Would love to hear your explanation of why a team with well known cap issues traded the more productive player making half as much if that were the case
I think Dubas has made many questionable moves. The facts are the facts. You wanted to know "WHEN THE????" Now you know.

he may have had a few Nylander tier games here and there but he was never an equal replacement
if he was. he wouldnt have been traded

Facts are facts. If you want believe Dubas is infallible that's up to you.

I’d rather dump one of our mediocre dmen that make more than Kap. I’m sure you could get a late round pick for Pettersson. Our defense is insanely overpriced.
And the softest in the NHL!!!!

Ive noticed a trend on this board past few days. lots of people always talk about facts but provide none
Agreed. Ive provided facts and got nothing but people who for some reason are hurt by the reality of the situation.

What is going on here. Nylander is on an entirely different tier than Kapanen. Do some of y’all even watch games?

I have zero interest in another top 6 tweener for Detroit but I’d trade our first for Nylander

Pretty safe to say that if Kapanen can’t produce on PIT, he just can’t produce.

Crosby and Malkin have made a career out of elevating mediocre wingers. How Nylander vs. Kapanen is even a question is beyond me. He’s probably closer to Alex than William.

What doesn't make sense about literal facts? Unless they fly in the face of a false narrative I guess.
Its funny since its your false narrative I'm questioning. No one in the NHL would take kappa over Nylander in a 1 for 1. Keep at it though, your anti Leaf tripe is amusing.

Here’s a sample for you from an old post I made, which is why I’m asking what happened to Kapanen:

Kapanen was on pace for 57 points in the Leafs top 6 while Nylander and Dubas were in the negotiation room. Nylander was a 61 point player in the Leafs top 6 not really better.

After Kapanen was traded:

Kapenen:
47GP, 37 points
64pts/82gp
26 5vs5 points
2.48 p/60
$3,200,000 AAV

Nylander:
59GP, 48 points
66pts/82gp
29 5vs5 points
2.19 p/60
$6,962,366 AAV

What time frame is this? Who was he playing against? What is context?

William Nylander is a much better player than Kasperi Kapanen.

This argument sounds like me back in the early 2000s trying to trade a third line guy for a top line guy in fantasy because the third line guy just had a multi-goal game early in the year and am abusing statistics to make it look like I have proof.

End of the day, Kapanen is a 40 point, 3rd line guy. Nylander is a 60 point, 2nd line guy. The difference in price reflects the higher usage and the better performance. It's not linear, but head to head, Willy N will always beat Kasperi K.

I can’t believe this is even a conversation.

As a Pens fan, I wish Kapanen was as good as Nylander. If he was, we’d probably #1 in our division and maybe in the same tier as CAR, FLA & TB. But KK is not WN.

I dont understand why people would be hurt lol
I mean it's hockey do people really take this stuff on a personal level?
Because I dont think they do

I never see facts from the people who always say something is a fact
I mean maybe it could be, maybe it isn't I'm not going to do the research to support someone else's claim

The context, time frame is in the post if you care to read because you have clearly gotten upset without understanding a simple post. I dont think writing it out a second time is going to help you or anyone else in this thread who have gotten upset over something I haven't said.

He's not just as productive. The context matters, even if the stats are equal, a guy is scoring that on a third line playing against duffers is different from scoring like that on a second line against better comp. You're pulling a specious connection and ignoring competition and anything else and acting like it's an unassailable point.

If you read the post he was more productive with the ice time given.

I'm not ignoring anything. You are playing make belief with a context that never happend. I don't know why You keep replying without reading the post.
