So unless the Wings are willing to eat 2.5-3 million of his contract then you are stuck with him in my humble opinion. He has not showed anything in the last two year to enforce he is a number one.

I mean, he made the All-Star game in 2015 but that's when he was injured to begin this downward spiral and Petr Mrazek's emergence. By the way, the most they could retain is 2.6 million(50%). 2 years @ 2.6 per wouldn't be a bad deal for someone to take him on and it beats buying him out.

Surprised they didn't end up agreeing on a longer contract. Good value for the Wings though, thought Mrazek could get a bit more for a two-year contract.
