Seems crazy on the surface, but this is Carolina sticking to what they believe for better or for worse. They believe goaltending is not worth paying for and they weren't willing to pay his arbitration award just for the sake of not losing him.

Curious if this would have been a better pickup for the Kraken than Driedger?

Are they poor?

I thought Dundon was filthy rich.

So...

no Jesper Wallstedt for Detroit then? This changes the way i was predicting draft a lot.

Ned isn't a guaranteed #1 yet. Why would Detroit not take Wallstedt, if he's BPA? Makes no sense.

They might go now and bet that Cossa is available for their later first round pick. But i don't see such a pressing need for them to go for a goalie now. Wally probably goes to Sharks or Kings now.

Absolute steal of a trade for Y. I quess Dundon ran out of money after rehiring Rod and his group?

Interesting that Carolina did not want to give Ned $3M for 2 years. That's a reasonable ask. They may have seen something we are not privy to.

Town NHL hates !
Detroit working their way slowly but surely toward playoffs.

Seeing what a machine Tampa is, I can't wait to see the Wings back into competition after a few Yzerman years.

Carolina putting together a good young team and getting a good goalie for that price is amazing.

Carolina paid $3M a year the past 2 years for James Reimer, but won't go to $3M for Ned.

Baffling. Even if they decide to upgrade the tandem from Mrazek/Ned, how much are they saving by going from Ned to Bernier? $1-2M?
