Post-Game Talk: Destroyed by Veggies

I missed most of this game but I did see Rempe's continued hustle contributing signif to Carrick's goal

Just like a few of us predicted GIVE HIM TIME HERE, NOT IN THE A, PLAYING WITH EDSTROM, AND GOOD SHIT WILL HAPPEN

They have to win two games for every loss (or better!) to make the playoffs from here on out baring everyone around then somehow spiraling even harder. It's tough!

What this game would have done is give them a bit of a buffer against a team they should beat, even if they got the 1 point. Not the end of the world, but the playoffs really should have been completely written off at the end of December. The race to the final wild card spot could very well disappoint people, but we need to remember they really should be a lottery team based on their play the first half of the year.
Remember we had a hot start. Then sucked for 19 games, now playing well this month. At the end of 82 we’ll be ok.

That's not on Borgen. It wasn't even a mistake, just tough luck. Panarin needs to come back harder. My gosh. And, well, Igor needs to come up big. To be honest, I don't blame any one guy on that. That was a team effort to let those points get away.

It's based on years of us signing similar D who become a detriment and then needing to actively attempt to get rid of them.

Shesty - for better or worse - is going nowhere.

He's his own man. Borgen will play like Borgen will play not like Nemeth. Because he's Borgen.

Now you’re just going off the rails on a crazy train.

It's too late to learn how to love and forget how to hate.

its not 2012 anymore. 4 goals isn't some great accomplishment.

Went down 5-1, tied the game 5-5, and lost it with less than 2:30 to go.
Yes, including two Bruin shorthanded goals on the same power play. Was at a bar full of Bruins fans, left after two periods (5-2), was 5-4 by time that I got home, and then 5-5, with the great Garnet (Ace) Bailey getting the game winner. Lost the cup 4-2. And that my friend, was an early lesson on being a Rangers fan…and then there was 1979, leading the Canadians 1-0 in games and leading in game 2…I literally had to drive to a hilltop in the remote Berkshires to get fuzzy reception on the car radio. We pay our dues…..

Maybe it's because the PP is 31% in the month of January.
We're also near the bottom of the league in terms of total PP opportunities. Only two opportunities this game.

Stop the overpassing and skate with the f'ing puck! Where is last year's Laf that would just do a power move toward the goal?

This is also why I love Chytil and willing to put up with the occasional turnover because he can move the puck on his own. If you want to score more on the PP, draw more penalties...if you want to draw more penalties, you need to possess the puck!

I think you guys give goalies that play against us too much credit. Blackwood made some good saves, but how difficult do our shooters really make it for the goalies? Especially when they give up big rebounds that we can't ever capitalize on.

I can't name one Ranger that can shoot better than Makar does from the blueline, let alone name any shooter on this team with a better shot than Mack, Necas, etc, etc, etc, etc...
I thought Shesty was meh this game but defense in general wasn't as tight.

As far as shooting the puck goes, I'd put Panarin's shot up against just about anyone in the NHL. However, it drops off a lot after him. Mika used to be great but that was years ago.

Ryan Lindgren has 3 games in the last 11 where he has finished above 50% of the expected goal share.

Rangers have lost 2 of them.

Maybe him sucking is the secret

I hear you guys and generally agree but this was a bad way to lose. Should have come out of this one with at least a point.

They’ve picked up 2 points along the way they had no business picking up (Dallas and Montreal OTLs.)

Losing a game that you’re supposed to win is just hockey. Things find a way to even out.

If they continue to play the way they have played they will be fine.

They should have won the first Avs game but you know who happened.

1972 Finals game 1 against Bruins was worse. You might have missed it, lol.
You are correct, I did not live through that pain. My history dates back to the 90s.

But even so, you look at the last 20 years, this loss is right up there with one of the worst of that period. Especially for the regular season. They had a chance to at minimum get a point. Just selfish, undisciplined play. But what’s worse is a coach standing behind the bench and just being absolutely mindless and tone deaf, throwing that PP1 unit at a brick wall. That group of 5 has been bad all year. They have looked slow, lethargic, deliberate, and nonchalant as if their shit dont stink and let me tell you it reeks. The coach had left hope when he removed Zibanejad from the PP only to put him right back there after only maybe 2 games. Its sickening. Kreider has no compete out there. Him and Zibanejad are losing board and puck battles all over the zone. They both have trouble handling pucks. They are such weak links its insanity Laviolette runs them out there. Give those minutes to Lafreniere and Chytil. Add some pace and better skill to the PP1. Colorado was flying around the zone on their PPs. Then you have Fox who is moving like he is 65 years old with a fridge on his back.

Done with Lavy.

My experience today went like this. After Makar made it 2-0 I said f*** this and turned the TV off. So then some time later I see that it's 2-2 so I decided to watch again. As soon as I turned the TV on there goes Fox to the penalty box. This Kelly could have gone with him for embellishment but whatever and then it's 3-2 but we were pushing at the end of the period. Then in the second when it got 4-2 I turned it off again. Later on I saw it was 4-3 and then it was 4-4 and we had all the shots. I decided not to turn the TV back on. That decision was for the best since they ended up blowing the game anyway.
