Despite losing Stamkos, Tampa has 5 players running at a PPG

Yeah if you had a DH spot in hockey where you could just trot a guy out there for the PP he would be fine, but he is god awful 5v5.

From what I can tell that is basically what Tampa fans have seen this season, they have missed him on the PP but 5v5 it was probably a gain.

Based on what Tampa fans had been saying coming in I didn't expect Stamkos to be good 5v5, I just didn't expect him to be completely and totally worthless.
He's just kind of a plug 5v5. If he can get some time and space he's still dangerous, but he doesn't really have the tools to get himself in that position anymore.

Even on the PP, while he's still dangerous, it was really the dual trigger man threat (with Point) that made it work to the level it did. Teams had a hard time defending both options.

TB is a lot better 5v5 right now. Our D has been spotty. It has good nights but can't seem to do it consistently.

Hagel had 75 points last year in 82 games, but the OP couldn't possibly imagine him scoring at a PPG pace this season?

It’s not that surprising. They had 5 guys at 75 points last year and they replaced Stamkos with Guentzel. Kuch, Point and Guentzel should all be expected to be at that level and Hagel should be close. Hedman too. Cirelli won’t keep this up but will likely hit career highs across the board.

Now go look at his stats this season and get back to me. He has 11 pts. 9 of those are from the PP. He's got the 3rd most ice time of the forwards and he has a grand total of 2 pts while being a -14.

Yeah its that bad.
He was atrocious last year 5v5 UNTIL the trade deadline. At that point he got pretty hot 5v5 (the whole team got hot after the tdl) and kind of salvaged some numbers.

I wouldn't expect that this year though.

Yeah its called Kucherov. Can't think of a better player to boost stats with in the NHL right now. Generates a metric ton of offense and heavily involves everyone else on the ice with him.

...until you scroll to shooting% and see Point scoring on 40% of his shots. Thats a bender if I've ever seen one.

5 guys with ppg.
leading goal scorers in Point.
Supposed smartest coach in the league.
D looks good rlead by Hedman. Young Geekie is a gem.
Yet play like a bubble team at best.

So what the problem ??

Vassy

hasn't looked great since the finals loss to Aves in 22.

And they still suck, damn

Two points behind the leafs and 4pts behind first in the division with two games in hand.

But I guess they do "suck" if we're going by the Standards Tampa has set for themselves.

A lot of people are sleeping on the fact that Tampa has had by far the hardest strength of schedule so far this season, and by the easiest remaining.
