The common one is Matt Read. If he gets his wheels back, he's a useful middle 6 winger. Or center in a pinch, technically. But I can certainly understand the hesitation from anyone else's end in acquiring him.

Another idle thought, if Montreal is concerned about cap next year:

David Desharnais (50% retained) and a negotiable pick for Matt Read (50% retained)

That way, Montreal gets a useful player back in exchange for DD (who a good chunk of your fanbase clearly wants gone), both teams pay roughly the same amount this year that they would (Philly would pay $62,500 less, giving us some leeway to negotiate with our RFAs, MTL would pay that amount more for this season), Philly and Montreal split the salary burden next season, and in exchange for that we get a pick, whatever people feel is equivalent value to $1,812,500.

MDZ is pretty much a no sell for this season, unless someone is going to straight up toss us an upgrade.

If Cousins fails as the Flyers 3C, I could see a deal around Desharnais and Read to reunite DD with Weise on the Flyers 3rd line.

Short of that, the Flyers would have no interest in DD. You should probably look to move him to cap floor team that needs C depth.

Habs should keep Pateryn. He had a good season last year and he seems to be even better this year. And he's cheap.

Philadelphia could use a #3C, Montreal could use some temporary cap space and are too small up front. I know Philly still has Schenn and Cousins to sign and likely can't take on Desharnais' full $3.5M this year. So maybe Montreal retains a bit.
