They won't work on the same line. I can't see it and I don't see it, they're both C, similar, and tiny. I've never been one to harp on the size issue, but our #1 line is that?? Quite clear our RW is quite unnerving and having a natural C playing on it, just makes it that much more obvious. I just doesn't see how Desharnais has a role on our team? In my eyes you have Pleks, Eller, Briere ahead of him and he's no Ryan White. I just don't see how how him and Briere have a fit on our team together, let alone on the same line.

They both require easy minutes to really be effective and that's why they could be paired together.

Sure would be nice to see Max with Galchenyuk or Eller though.

Our top 3 Centers should be:

Plek
Galchenyuk
Eller

The sooner we realize the better. DD is not that good and too easy to play against.

They could work but I actually think Briere would work better with Eller.

The way I see it

Galchenyuk Plekanec Gionta
Pacioretty Eller Briere
Bourque Desharnais Gallagher

That way you get a little bit of size of experience of speed and of talent on each line.

The whole point of camp is to see what does and doesn't work, so we'll see.

Agreed.

What alarms me is the the fact MT approaches this line as our 1. I'm sure they'll get there chances, but can't see them as an effective 1st line ES group.

Do you realize that Brière is actually our tallest offensive RW?

He's 5'10". Gallagher is 5'8" and Gionta is 5'7". I think it makes a lot of sense to put them together.

Camp should tell him they should be split up, let alone they are not the #1 line...hopefully....I can't see them working at all. :help:

I'd like to see:

Pacioretty-plekanec-gionta
Gally-Eller-gally
Bourque-desharnais-briere

Give easy minutes to that 3rd line. Always wanted to see patch with pleks

Performance will be everything early on this season. I think a Top-3 centre position is there for the taking if Galchenyuk shows he's ready for it. No matter how sheltered their minutes are, a line consisting of DD at centre and Briere on the RW will get exposed 5 on 5 and by Xmas we might be looking at this:

Bourque - Plek - Briere
Pacioretty - Eller - Gallagher
DD - Galchenyuk - Gionta

...or some derivation there of, until Bergy figures out how to either deal DD or make the team bigger around him.

I think we have to realize the DD line is not the # 1 line. In all honesty it will be Gally-Eller-Gally. Outside of Maxpac, Eller and Galchenyuk led the team last year in even strength points and there's no reason to think they won't do the same this year with additional ice time.

Plekanec's line will be the tough minutes line playing against the other team's best. The DD line is basically additional offense, and yes, they'll get easy minutes and offensive zone starts, and that will help them be effective.

But they're not the # 1 line.

Everyone needs to realize just how good Eller and Galchenyuk already are, and that there's really no rush to put Galchenyuk at centre.

I do think Bourque and Pacioretty will be swapped eventually though.

Putting a 19 year old Galchenyuk as #2 center is a surefire way to derail his development. Last year he was well insulated and had a very nice year, why turf that plan that's been so effective. Keep giving him a bit more responsibility at a time, not throwing him to the wolves like they did with Price at 20.

If DD is so easy to play with why did he put up 60 points in 11-12? If he was easy to stop, teams would have stopped him. A guy doesn't put those numbers in the best hockey league in the world being "easy to stop", that's somebody's over active imagination on their sofa while eating junk food and drinking beer.

Pacioretty-plekanec-gionta
Gally-Eller-gally
Bourque-desharnais-briere

patch-pleks-briere
bourque-eller-gally
prust-gally-gionta

Got to start Gally on the 3rd line center roll...

Bourque - DD - Prust.

C'mon. Do it while it's possible (Gionta out)

But Bergevin says you can't measure character...so Danny Boy is probably more like 6'0 when you take that into account. I forgot about his feathered hair, that adds a couple more inches.

Pacioretty-DD-Briere

2 finishers in Pac and Briere.
Nobody in those 3 are known to have great puck-possession skills.
Lack of agressive forecheck, who's gonna go get the puck along the boards.
DD and Briere are easy players at 1 on 1
Briere is not comfortable ont the wing

It might work, but i wouldn't bet on it!
