Philly only has Ghost and Gudas worth protecting....Manning is next up believe it or not.

Philly will give Pitt Hagg for DP....he is ED exempt.

I noticed that CapFriendly lists Hagg as expansion draft exempt, but this is his third full season in the AHL. Is he some sort of loophole/exception to the "2nd year pro" exemption rule, or does CapFriendly have it wrong?

Was his first year on a different contract? If it was just for AHL I believe he would be exempt.

Will fix everything
What about Pouliot for Girgensons, straight up? Both are highish 1st round picks on the outs with their current squad.

Both need a change of scenery.

I would argue that Pouliot is good enough that if he were in any of those other defensemen's situations, he would be playing in a similar role as they are. He hasn't really been given a shot in Pittsburgh yet.

Not a chance in Anaheim. Lindholm is playing as 1D and behind him are Fowler, Theodore, Stoner and Holzer. Pouliot would not be the callup from SD over Theodore, so the only other option for him would be full time in SD or alternating pressbox time with Stoner/Holzer

Sadly we'd have nowhere to play Girgensons. I'd explore that deal in the offseason if the Penguins move on from Bonino though.

I'd do this deal from the Pens POV. Same draft, two top 10 picks. HF rates these guys 8B (Pouliot) & 8C (Reinhart).

Have you watched Reinhart at all? He's atrocious, he's an actual bust from that draft.

Bust of a prospect right now ... certainly doesn't have much trade value. I don't know why this topic continues to be brought up. Prospects that don't show much get little in return.

:laugh::laugh:

Bust of a prospect? How incredibly insightful.:laugh:

This is why Sheary is exempt even though he's in his 3rd pro season right now.

Sheary was an undrafted NCAA player who signed an AHL-only deal for the '14-15 season, so this is his 2nd season on an NHL contract.

Hagg is still on the ELC he signed in 2014, but his first year in the AHL ('14-15) was a slide year since he came over from Europe and didn't play in any NHL games.

That being said, I had no idea these stipulations could make a 3rd year player exempt - all I'd ever heard was "first and second year pros were exempt". Good to know.

My thoughts as well.

I'd explore Pouliot in a deal for Kapanen or Rychel as well if Toronto was interested.

Bump from not too far back...

Is there any reasonable offers out there that involve Pouliot going one way and a young RHS d-man OR a reasonably priced winger with some finish (that is, he can score from more than 15 feet out) coming back the other way...?
