might not be a bad thing to have the ability to put someone else in his spot for a couple of games without someone being a healthy scratch, better for moral and lets us see what we have in Lehtonen.

Sandin will get a chance. Dermott im convinced now has very questionable hockey sense at this game speed. He is processing his options and usually picks the wrong one. Sandin will do a few things that make me realize he has very good hockey sense, deception of his next move. Dermott is a great skater, can be physical and passes the puck very hard but does not have a mental game right now and u can not teach hockey sense.

He has a strong sense to keep puck out of his net ... and he is fearless to do what it takes to accomplish that objective ... he needs a couple years with Bogo and Muzzy and he will learn intricacies of pro defense ... defensive defenders take much longer to develop ...

Sandin will be more of an offensive minded puck distributor but his skating is below standard and until he improves it he will be on outside looking in ... and I have been told he understands exactly what he needs to do and is working on it diligently ... they already know he has great hockey IQ but you have to be able to keep up to play

He is a hold up for Sandin/Lily too ... but he was worth da shot ... hope we can trade him before he goes back home ... we need another vet dpeth defender with size for playoff run when Bogo and Muzzy get injured

Yup Lehtonen just can't process the game at NHL speed and looks overwhelmed trying to maintain positioning.

Hopefully Dermott is back but if not I'm really hoping we see Sandin given a chance.

I had ZERO idea ... but I get it now ... if we had lots of CAP room be nice to hold him as a PP backup if Rielly got hurt

I didn't read about anyone saying replace Rielly but I did read and hear about trading Dermott. I always disagreed and had low expectations for Lehtonen. We've seen it time and time again where a hyped up player comes from Europe and comes up flat. I still say Dermott fits in better in the top 6 than Lehtonen or sandin right now

I would like to see Sandin given some opportunities to get into some games. I like how Bogosian has played on right side of 3rd pairing. But we need to find him a steady partner moving forward. This rotation is troublesome and it doesnt allow pairings to be comfortable in the long run.

Ultimately one of Dermott, Lethonen or Sandin needs to claim that spot. As Keefe is doing with 4th line, trying to find the right combination. He should be close to settling the LHD on 3rd pairing as well. Sandin sooner or later needs to be given an opportunity to claim that spot.

I would play Sandin too ... but if we did then Lehtonen I am sure would be on next plane outta here ... eventually we either trade him or let him go back home as we don't have luxury of extra CAP space for him
