Put Boyle on the wing. The guy had 2 points in 30+ in the middle, and gets double that in a single game at wing. Obviously a lot of that came of his ass on the Powerplay, but he still looked much better.

Brassard played on the wing in Columbus as well. Richards can play the wing. Stepan played wing last year. Miller is more suited to the wing IMO.

True, but considering the Rangers are usually awful at shooting from the point I don't have a problem with reminding the Pittsburgh D (or any other teams defense) not to forget about a bomb from the blueline. Brass was able to get in close but Fleury was still pretty square with him. You see the guys who are starting to float towards Brass scramble to get over to block Richie when Brassard surprises them with the pass.

While it probably won't work all the time, I really like the idea. And again, it was a very well executed pass, which is probably why it ended up working. No look off the backhand RIGHT in the path of Richie.

All I was pointing out, which is fact, is that many of the players can move to the wing and have done so in the past. If that "problem" arises that they have too many centers, they will have more options than trading them away.
 
You guys write him off as a place holder, but he has just as much of a chance to earn a spot as any of the other guys IMO. Give him a chance, let's see what the kid's got before writing him off.

I'd rather get wingers that are more suited for the wing. Plus I think the kids will push him out of those spots as early as next year, if not the year after.

I've been watching him on Columbus for years !

So many people that come to a site called hockey's future didn't even know what kind of player he was! Same with Dorsett! And Few even knew John Moore was a highly regarded defensive prospect! This is hockey's future, what are you doing here if you don't even know these guys??

Yet, I don't know what I'm talking about :nod:

Dude, where did you have Brassard and Moore ranked in your Bluenote draft preview?
 
BN, I trust your opinion when it comes to young players and players in general, but I am hoping Brassard can find a way to be a 2c here with a new opportunity. If not, he has value, I agree, and can be moved down the line. I believe there were rumors of a 1st + from Vancouver for him just last year.

Seguin is a center, but Boston already had Krejci and Bergeron. So they move Seguin to the wing.
Bergeron has a concussion? No problem, just move Seguin to the middle.
I'm not comparing them, I'm giving an example of a situation where moving a center to wing is working out.

And a lot of people seem to think the guy is an average 3rd liner.
Brass is sitting nicely at 41st in points among centers

I liked them both. Brassard's draft was 7 years ago though in a very low talent first round, I probably saw less games that year then the previous 5 years. 2006 was a horrible draft after the first few picks, lots of misses. I did like Lucic that year though, wanted him in the later rounds.

Moore I was very high on, the skating and the skill was apparent, I question the fire in the belly though, don't see it often enough or he'd be a top blueliner already.

He has an enormous chance here to succeed. If the coaches can keep his head on straight I have hope, but its very little at this point, and I want the top two spots to eventually be for Steps and Lindberg.

Which is not great for a guy that will bring much else to the table, seems like we can upgrade over that, and he could be used to get that upgrade.
 
He showed some great vision on the ice last night. It was unreal actually. Let's hope he can keep this up and become a regular contributor.

He is in a COMPLETELY different situation, the kid hasn't had ANY semblance of stability in his NHL career. He has a boat load of talent and a change of scenery could be the difference for a player like him. That is why I am saying give him a chance to show what he's got.

Its a comparison any way you slice it.

Seguin is a top line player, proven. Switch him to defense if they have to, bet he'd be okay. He's a much better hockey player, those guys you can move around and not miss a beat.

We move Boyle, Powe and Miller around all the time and it's fine. We moved Gaborik to the LW and it was atrocious. You don't have to be a top line player to be able to slot in anywhere on a line.
 
Brassard plays a game similar to Christiansen or Gomez.

I dont see him as primary scoring but in the right setting he could thrive. With the coaching and the way the rest of the team has been playing, I am far from sure this is the right setting.

Still, expecting him to fill the 3C and help on the PP shouldn't be too much to ask. We needed the depth.
