Since we're going into 4 conferences, we'll definitely play Columbus at home next year. Waiting for the the Duuuuuuuuuuuu. If I were Dubie, I'd cry a little.

Video tribute?

I wouldve thought nothing of it, but considering a large part of this board wants him, his 1 goal, his sprained knee, and his $4.2M yearly back, I would'nt rule out another Eddie Giacomin moment.

No ones allowed to move Stepan. Ever. He is glorious.

he is a mental case, much like gaborik but more... actually... less... slovakishly icy. Gaborik just looks like he's given up on being Slovak when he's not playing well. Stepan gets visibly annoyed at himself. They are both highly inconsistent players. Gaborik's size eliminates him from being effective in some ways that Stepan still manage to be good at when he's not putting up points. So step goes on and off for stretches while Gabby is on for a bit, off for awhile. We need both of them to be on during the playoffs...

The players aren't the issue with the Rangers. (they have all the skill) Gaborik and Richards just show no heart. Nash at least tries every shift he's on the ice.
What happened to Gaborik and Richards??

Deserved to get ripped? Sure, I guess. He didnt deserve the mindless bashing about trading him for spare parts. Its mindblowing to me that people can watch hockey for years and still have knee-jerk reactions like that.

You wont find those people calling for him to be traded weeks ago eating crow in this thread now - they're likely off bashing the next guy thats struggling.

I bashed him, but I came here to praise him. He was playing scared, and looked awful out there. He's looked excellent, lately, and deserves a lot of credit for righting the ship.

I did not, however, suggest we trade him.

Oh, and by the way, people are entirely entitled to bash whoever is struggling, especially when they make a King's ransom. That's how it works, in sports (especially in NYC).

I don't understand this post. The players aren't the issue but then you name two players who are an issue?

Who exactly has this "skill"? I'm confused.

If anything, Richard's problem is that he's been trying too hard, not that he "shows no heart."

You dont think wasting away 9 years in Columbus is a factor in Nash's play here?

Its not a revelation. Hes making the most of his time here.

Nash was inconsistent in Columbus too.

This kid has been unreal!! I sure hope Slats steps up to the plate with Step and his agent and gets a three year deal done ASAP!! He has 100% been our most consistent forward since his 5 game slow start. F... You gabby and Richards !!

Yeah, my feelings too.

What I really do not understand is when people blame a player for not caring. It's nine out of ten times a pantload.
They do care, though there may be other things wrong. No way does Richards have no heart.

Edit: and I will transfer that very same philosophy to the struggles by Stepan earlier in this season

JCRESTY, I am not sure if you are watching the same games the rest us are, but I would say Step has been our most consistent forward the last twenty games. The fact that he has 120 points in the 2 1/2 years he has been a pro, is probably our best two way forward, and plays in a in very defensive system, and still has 120 points in regular season play. I would not call that inconsistent for a 22 year old kid.

Why don't you go out and see if there are any players from his draft year that have done the things he has done in this type of system. I will clue you in there are not many playing at his level. Not a knock on you I just think you need to check the facts before making these kinds of statements. Not showing up every night is all part of becoming a pro. He has gotten better every year and that is what the process is suppose to do. This is why you hear coaches all the time talk about the "process". I also would strongly disagree that he is a head case. If he was a head case under this coach he probably would not still be here the way he plays with there minds every night with different line mates.

are you sure your watching the NYR? hes been our best fw the entire season.. theres not a situation the kid doesn't play in..

How can people say Richie doesnt care? He's a proud Hockey player. He will heat up at some point, actually he already has...Pro players get in slumps they all do,but I would never question this guys heart.

Because its an easy critique to pick at. Used on Gaborik too even though both are clearly false.

I went to the game last night and holy cow is Stepan good away from the puck!! He is never out of position. Me and my dad watched that all night and we really were impressed with the little things that don't show up. Really fun to watch.

Derek Stepan is 2nd in points on a team that is struggling to score and is outstanding away from the puck. Can he become/is he the #1 center we've been looking for?

I think so.

Among a lot of bad performances so far on this team, Stepan has been a huge positive. He really looks like he took another step in his play.

I say Richie cared when he sat on his butt sipping fine wine for an extended time.
All that up front money can do that.
I feel for him.
So its just now he finally looks like he is in hockey shape.
I hope he is cause this team aint making the playoffs unless he gets his game together.
And Stepan is not a #1

4 G + 6 A in 10 GP in March so far. Every night creating chances and getting points.

The way Nash, Stepan and Cally are playing.... man if we can just get Richards and Gaborik going.. This team could put together a nice streak.
