Well, that was unexpected. Now comes the question of when the remaining cap charges hit the saints? He already restructured, so I’m assuming he has to return any money that was paid to him as a SB recently as part of that restructure.

It’s not a big deal because the Saints have three QBs on rookie deals
 
Raiders held onto him for too long, missed out on other QB’s while we were trying to prep up Carr for what he’s not, a franchise QB.

Good when he was on but terrible when he sucked. Threw people under the bus for his incompetence and alienated others, some raiders fans defend him but I never did.

Good luck to whatever you do but what an inconsistent career.

I would imagine Carr and his agent, would have talked this out amongst themselves before they did the restructure with the Saints.

Given how the Lions went after Sanders/Johnson on their SB, I would imagine Agents have done what they can to ensure that money is fully guaranteed at signing as that SB is to replace a large base salary in years 1 and 2 of the contract.

Carr's deal was $150 mill over 4 years, but $60 mill for 1 year and $70 mill for 2. Years 1 and 2 and SB were guaranteed upon signing. $10 mill roster bonus in year 3 was guaranteed on day 1 of 2024 league year.

It's just the money that was due for 2025 season which was restructured that is likely needing to be returned, outside of his $10 mill related to his roster bonus. His deal, reading it now, said that the 2025 base salary of $30 mill was fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of 2025 league year. But, figured that is over written with the restructure.

Humphries regular season numbers are a lot lower then Carr's but he did lead the Chargers to a SB. They got destroyed but that's more playoff success in one year than Carr had in his career. Same situation with Chris Chandler. Carr's career numbers and lack of playoff success are similar to Vinny Testaverde but Vinny played forever and bounced all over the league. There's probably some better comparables out there.

Yeah but numbers will be skewed because of the modern game. That’s why I was thinking about reputation-wise.
 
Saw a tweet from Garaffolo talking about how NO won’t go after SB money but Carr keeps his roster bonus.

SB money is high and gets spread out over multiple years. But that is offset with a low base salary early in the contract to account for actual cash flow.

He got paid $30 mill in 2023. $1.5 mill in base with $28.5 mill in SB. 2024 he converted his $28.8 mill of his base into a bonus for cap relief so was paid $1.2 mill in base but total cash if $30 mill.

Seems insane that teams could go after SB money. I mean players are then just better off asking for the money as roster bonuses instead.

Even if you show the slightest flash of being elite you could probably make 50-70 million

He got paid based of the 2016 season his 3rd year. Got them to the PO but got hurt in game 15 vs Indy. Penn the LT had not allowed a sack all year but gave that one up and Carr suffered a broken ankle. Cook started that PO game vs Houston and lost. Carr’s only PO start was vs Cincy.
 
Carr was a great front runner. Could tear teams apart when things were humming along.. Any hint of adversity and he was mush. The bigger the moment, the worse he was.

Having watched Rattler and Haener.. nothing there leads one to believe they will be better than Carr. Using a 2nd rounder on Dennis Quaid this year, seems like a ridiculous reach.

This implies he’s going to make a comeback. All comes down to his shoulder. How bad is it?
I mean he didn’t need to restructure when he did as he was due a large base salary. Either the saints keep him on a restructure or they cut him.
Should have discussed offseason plans before the restructure. Otherwise end up like cousins with Atl who then draft penix.
