I hope your February is going well mate. I suffer from depression and a general anxiety disorder as well, too much intense emotion (even happiness) can trigger a panic attack.

I hope everyone on the forum is doing well in life and doing the 4 things you mentioned, as everyone deserves to live a healthy life.
Cheers buddy - I'm doing alright. Feb is almost over, days are getting longer, and the warmer temps always help. Panic attacks are a new one for me - I had my first one last year and a few more since. They royally suck: what a terrible feeling.

I hope you're managing well with everything you've got going on too pal.

We've been through this multiple times already this season; it's Jekyll and Hyde. They can look so good (6-0 over Minnesota) and so bad (dummied 5-2 against the Habs).

No doubt they'll get it rolling again, but they'll also fall off the rails once more before the season is over. The good teams know how to minimize the slumps or even avoid them altogether. Ottawa is still learning how to do that.

wtf is this emo chronicle

Really? Because we are in the playoffs so the actual signs that count - points - have us in the playoffs in real life and all the projections are in our favour to make the playoffs including the most important one - the eye test.

Sandy and Tkachuk just lit up Workd Hockey but Ottawa fans are feeling sad for themselves at a time when everyone is talking about our star players.

I hope Ottawa loses versus Winnipeg so the weak fans get to the point they can’t handle this and stop commenting
Yeah have you ever watched Sens hockey?

We’re an absolute roller coaster, win 5, lose 4, win 3, lose 5.

It absolutely sucks. I honestly don’t expect us to make the Playoffs this season, and I’m actively maintaining that view so I’m not disappointed.

Don’t get me wrong, this season has been exciting but it doesn’t give me hope.

Nice, I see what Adrianopolis is doing.

He made a jinx thread and we start losing and now he has made a reverse jinx thread. Let the glory and wins rain down upon Sens fans like it is 2017!!!!

Panic attacks suck. I started getting them in 2020. Stay strong.

IDK, but I'm trying to take a classic reaction thread as an opportunity to talk mental health... Why not?

I had no idea how awful they were! And then my partner tells me she gets them all the time because of work and stress... I would change careers, tbh. Not worth it

I think Adrianopolous trumps Burrowsaurus for the most emo poster on HFSens

But if you really are depressed then hit the gym man. It helps alot

Did you guys go to highschool between like 1995-2005 type era?

The use of the word emo is dating you guys.

Same time I went to high school. Didn't hear the word before or since until it started coming back to these boards the last few months.

I can picture those days where some people had long black hair and did the hair flip thing...it's like south park goths vs emos from 12 years ago.

Brings me back to my youth.

People are making a lot of jokes in this thread, but depression in Ottawa is such a widespread issue that they just announced an entire festival for it.

Good joke, but I do love Bluesfest anyways

If you dont have any hope Buffalo has plenty of sports teams to cheer for.

I finished high school in 1967! I feel old as I am old!

But I do not suffer from depression and anxiety; my wife does but not as bad as she used to. So there is hope for those who do. Cognitive behaviour therapy help her, along with other drugs she takes.

Smoking pot just dulls my mind. Alcohol makes me tired and dopey! Being old, dull, tired and dopey is not a good combination.

You're my dad's age exactly lol. Born in 49.

The dulling of the mind is nice when you sometimes overthink things or have an active mind that won't stop thinking of random shit lol helps you just chill and enjoy whatever you're doing.

Alcohol makes me tired too.

Have you ever tried micro dosing shrooms? Like take a gram spread out over a whole Saturday evening? Pretty neat alternative to alcohol or weed.

What an absolutely brutal out of town scoreboard today.

I think we are finished. Out of the playoffs and below several teams …

How will the gym pull us up from being outside the playoffs?
Look at it this way, if you workout you'll get buff. So if the Sens make or miss the playoffs either way you will be buff.

No pecks no sex.

Nope I have never tried magic mushrooms.

Nope I have never tried magic mushrooms.

They don't call them magic anymore, and you can order them online pretty easily...just in case you're associating a stigma with them.

Very common now to mix small amounts while drinking similar to people who smoke and drink at the same time.

It allows you to do less of each within the night compared to doing just one.

I find with micro dosing shrooms makes you less paranoid and more social. It makes you almost feel like that very social mood of drinking but without some of the negatives....oddly enough if you only did shrooms and a lot, it would make you more likely to be paranoid.

It's very similar to taking benzos (anti anxiety/anti depression) while drinking...just makes you want to go out and socialize and have a fun time...kind of like when you drink on New years Eve or another event where you seem to have more energy or be more in a mood to party...it does that.

I used to do way too much at once as a teen, didn't always lead to good things, but I know a few people now that micro dose for mental health and it has helped them. The mental health field is taking it seriously too. No reason it should be blackballed in favor of other drugs purely because of the stigma long attached to it.

Like Cannabis, it's been great to see the walls come down and more people are able to benefit from it. With more and more attention on how bad alcohol can be for us and more people looking to avoid it, this new wave has felt like good timing.

Do shrooms make you nauseous?

Hard to say exactly what is going on. Good teams don't go on slumps like this

Not true whatsoever. Good teams go on small slumps like this all the time. What matters is how often, and how long these slumps are.

We've had a pretty good season so far, which is why we're still very much in the playoff picture despite this slump.

Right now, the slump is slightly concerning, but all it takes is a couple wins to right the ship and the mood swings the other way.

We have lost as many in a row as the Oilers right now.

Do shrooms make you nauseous?

Not usually...and not while micro dosing.

But while regular dosing, I know some people that would puke right as it started to hit them...like 45 mins after eating...but then felt fine.

I've never felt nauseous from it like I occasionally do with alcohol.

I've never felt that nausea while micro-dosing, but definitely have felt it taking larger amounts. I usually need to take a wicked piss as I start to come up though!

When I first started taking them, someone explained it to me this way: Psilocybin is very sensory focused, and your body does a whole lot of things our brains normally wouldn't focus on - like how much your stomach is churning. All of a sudden, you become hyper aware of it, and in comes the nausea.

How true that is? I couldn't honestly say.

Micro-dosing is a fun state to be in - everything seems a little more elevated and colourful, and then every now and again you'll get that rush of blood behind your ears that reminds you you're tripping a bit.

The biggest risk to me is a bad trip, which sucks. Easily mitigated by being in the right environment with the right people. I would never trip with someone with high anxiety or that is currently depressed, or otherwise a manic, busy person. I prefer comfortable spaces vs being outside

Of course they do - ours is just really bad timing. The truth is, we're running out of runway, and every game we lose now makes it that much harder later. I'd say the 25 game is a good milestone for feeling a bit of panic: Ideally, we gain another 30 points across those 25 games to get to 92 on the season.

While our remaining schedule is light comparatively, we still play good teams and have a ton of inter-division/conference games coming up which just amplifies the problem.

What's particularly frustrating is how well the team has done before this skid to set themselves up for success. We really needed to win one of the games on the Florida trip, as well as the game against Mtl. If we had done that, we'd still be in a wildcard spot. Now we're 4 pts back of Detroit. Ugh.
