Welp. Knob is 2 for 2 on goalie change decisions these playoffs. Here's hoping he goes 3 for 3.

I think the first Skinner pull was an easier decision to make. As he cited, there was a lack of big saves in games 1-3 in Van, and he was eventually pulled in game 3 and we got to have to a brief look at Picard. So that lends more easily to taking Skinner out for Game 4.

The current decision is harder. Skinner is coming off 4 decent to good games with 1 bad one in there, and that stretch has included more big saves than the 3 game stretch in Van. It's a tougher decision this time around which is probably why he's leaning to keep Skinner in. Skinner needs to be much better than he was in Game 3 though if we are to have a chance.

You and I have spent this day defending our opinions on this and I for one am tired!

My take - If the precedent of Skinner being yarded for Pickard wasn't set than I would start Skinner. We're in the same camp about the shit goal vs the rest of the game.

But.... it was set. And it WORKED. I see no reason why they wouldn't start Pickard tomorrow. It's a strategic move at this point not anything personal.

I think tomorrow is the optimum time to start CP. Obviously it's only in desperation if they have to start him in G5.

McLeod and Perry in please
Maybe Perry can get into the grill of Oetinger a bit and frustrate him

McLeod...meh, hes a decent PKer and will bring speed...and that's it lol
Taking McLeod out, unless it was a psychological thing, was a mistake. He's one of the few players not named McDavid, who can actually skate. Take Ryan out.

I agree. Thought so before the series started that we may need to resort to bringing this game into the gutters, the Stars are just too comfortable out there playing their default game. They aren't being challenged enough. They need to take some punches to the face and be forced to respond. That said, with the ticky tack officiating we have in this Stars series, it's also a very fine line the Oilers will need to navigate. Don't want to hurt yourself either.
Don’t need to punch people. Just finish checks. At every opportunity

If you aren’t trying to inflict pain (not saying injure) you aren’t doing the playoffs right

Lol I just got started though, so I'll take up the mantle for a bit. Rest up Reg :) .

That's a valid point. We now know what Pickard can provide and that should definitely be in Knob's calculus. I've also mentioned many times throughout these playoffs that we need to manage Skinner's rest. Whether mental or physical fatigue, his focus starts to fade with too many games in a row. That to me, would be another good reason to consider the Pickard swap, or even to have considered it before Game 3 even happened.

There's arguments on both sides of the coin really. I used Knob as my tie breaker the last 2 goalie swaps though. So for me, I'll continue to Trust in Knob and hope for the best.

Not playing Nurse is not an option regardless of his play we all know it and why. We’re only down 2-1 to a REALLY good team but changes are needed. Pickard and Perry.
I remind myself that it took 7games to dispatch the Canucks. Maybe 9 games needed to dispatch Dallas.
Would like to see Pickard in the net…Skinner is looking shaky and needs that reset again.
Deboer has us figured out, especially weaknesses in the Dzone and they’ve managed to capitalize on that when needed.
Usually, we can count on our big guns going hard against teams and giving us the edge. Not happening in this series as both McD and Drai are dealing with injuries…looking to the supporting crew - again - to step up.
Play it simple and hard boys….no tomorrows!!!

Yeh i meant punch faces as more of a turn of phrase. For sure though, finishing checks should be the bear minimum. Finish every check. We saw last night a hard forecheck turn into a Delay of Game penalty too. So we can get to this Dallas D and get them off their game. Need that throughout the lineup tomorrow for a full 60. And if at all possible, start getting dirty... if you get a chance to get away with something though.

Ha! Stay strong!

I know it can hurt your starters psych but I think we're beyond that.
Also, interestingly I've found even the downrite haters of Skinner acknowledge he plays better when not so pushed.
Honestly I don't see what they have to lose in starting Pickard. It's not like Skinner is so far ahead of him.

Anyway - have a good night and rest up for tomorrow!!

Lol will do. I hope we aren't considering psyche. It really shouldnt come down that. It should come down to which goalie Knob thinks he can win with. If Knob feels he can clean up the defensive mistakes that sunk us, and that will lead to a better Skinner performance, then just gotta hope they execute on that plan and it works out. I think they will, cause lots of the mistakes we made were of the really stupid kind like not bearing down and making sure the puck exits our zone. They should be correctable. In any case, thanks and will do. And ALSO, the FAT LADY HASNT SUNG YET, we get back into good mood territory tommorrow!

Broberg, Perry, McLeod, Gagner...

I don't see anyone of these guys moving the needle.

Broberg is the only one with at least a shot to make a large impact. But I have no reason right now to think he can pull that off. Other guys, known quantities. Maybe get a boost from being rested. But adding 1 more D that actually knows what he's doing would be massive right now.

Blow our minds Broberg! What perfect timing too. Holland can give you a ridiculous contract for a couple good playoff games before he flies off to Columbus.

Besides Skinner. Anything come out on Mcleod or Perry?
Skinner is starting tomorrow.. McLeod is coming back in apparently.. I didn't even notice thay McLeod was scratched last game. Useless player aside from some speedy moments.

As bad as our D have been, bringing in Broberg for conference finals is baffling. I don’t know this player but from what I’ve seen it makes no sense.

Oh? Do we know who's coming out for Mcleod?

Complete black hole offensively, was doing his job for the most part defensively until he wasn't. The mistakes leading to goals against sealed his healthy scratch. He needed this reset. Hope it turns into better play for him now moving forward. Need everyone to crack these Stars.

My guess is Derek Ryan.

Just take our 1st period and do that 3 times every game. Should sweep our way to a Cup easy if we do that. JUST DO IT!
