Nah, stupid is thinking the Oilers have Shesterkin as a backup. Skinny saved 2x breakaways that game and 2 x prime slot shots during an onslaught by Dallas

Has anyone watched the Fla/NYR series?

For the Oil to win a couple of these games they needed Shesterkin. period!! Bad hockey is just bad hockey. Blaming Skinner right now absolves them of that
I don’t just blame skinner , but letting in the first goal and last goal was a back breaker that I think Pickard would have saved.

See what skinner does tonight

If I had to pick out one shift where Game 3 turned on the Oilers it would be at the 18 minute mark of the 2nd. And the prime culprit would be Nurse.

This was the Nurse anus block shift. 6 shots on Oilers in this shift, about 2 and half minutes of ozone time for the Stars.

Stars start off the possession with Nurse totally backing off Robertson and letting him enter the zone and walk causally into a prime shooting area. Nurse also lets an east west pass go through his lane this shift. Gets out battled by Duchene down low. Makes a weak clear that gets intercepted for more Stars zone time. Luckily trips and falls by himself leading to the famous butt block. This was goal against shift all day long if not for that butt block.

Nurse needs to be much much much better for Game 4.
Nurses ass stopped a puck. Skinner put one in off his ass. I'm not defending either, just saying, and thats another GA Skinner without being saved by Nurses ass that would have made him 5 goal Skinner again. Thats ass.

This post stinks. ;)

Well - back to backs against the wall, which seems to be the only way to get this team to actually give a sh*t about what is going on out there.

Disagree here. If you watch Dallas a lot they play to get these chances all day. They cheat to pinch to pucks and pressure hard thus committing resources to that just to spring people either on odd man rush or finding somebody past D. They ploy this so much that sometimes its going to work. There are going to be chances given up and DAllas get them against ANY opponent and any D. Thats the risk reward they play. The Risk is they are often caught back with only D and their forwards jumped. Dallas tend to play one period of games with an uber jump package. Thats usually enough for them to bag a few goals. They play other periods more conservatively. its situational effects and where they feel the opportunity is to turn it on.

Dallas have possibly the best counter attack/ transition game I've seen. When engaged they are very aggressive at it. Sharks.
The Oilers overall have dealt reasonably well with that, as well as teams do. Dallas were blowing out Colorado consistently and had their way with Vegas once they got settled into their playoff gear.

When I watch the Rangers I see them giving up 40some shots every night, basically suppressing nothing, and Shestekin doing it all. Maybe I'm not understanding your point.

We’d be first round exits every year without Drai.
We might not even be in playoffs. Man this board. As little as a week ago tons of posters saying "remind me how great Drai is if I ever shit on Drai again" Then you see this thread and its shit throwing season again.

Some of these posters deserve watching a team that had Omark on a PP...

Not really. You're easing in Broberg and taking minutes off the other 6 Dman
Ok, we need to stop with this garbage. Like, play him in the NHL and let him go.

Cody Ceci hasn't played like an NHL defenseman for the majority of these playoffs. Nurse hasn't played like an NHL defenseman since this series started, but we have to scared for Broberg? f*** off this this.

Put him in and play him, he doesn't need top-4 minutes, but don't piss around.

Yah i have no issue blaming Skinner normally...but last game was not on him.
Again..two things can be true and yes a lot of blame on him that first and forth goal is stopped by every goalie in the playoffs except ours...The team also still has mental weakness and bad lapses/mistakes that cost them games/series..

I don't get people defending skinner at this point...We have historically bad goalie performance statistically in over 20 plus playoff games and a history of momentum/back breaking weak goals that turns games around. Could the team be better at times? Of course, but our goalie has not been near good enough to win a cup. The oilers are the best team in the playoffs statistically in giving up grade A chances....

We better forecheck like animals all game. Doesn’t matter the score, just keep pressing. We fell asleep at 2-0. When it got to 3-2 we finally started playing with intensity again. Was a forecheck that lead to the Delay of Game penalty and we got lots of chances on that PP. Then a hard Foegele forecheck that lead to a turnover for the Brown to Henrique goal.
This team can do that for a period and then its back to fatigue. Its that time in the playoffs and teams with better structure, schemes, goaltending will prevail some of the time.

This team also tends to lack discipline when they are too agressive pressuring forward. That plays into Dallas hands as they have some of the best outlet passers in the world. All Dallas have to do to burn us when we are pressuring too much is jump one guy and hit him with outlet. This is what McD was talking about partly and why its so hard to play Dallas when they are on their stretch pass game. It forces the Oilers to move their D back, out of zone, which makes Dallas exits easier as they are elite at outmanning and gaining pucks. Its rock paper scissors.

If any one adjustment would work the Oilers or other teams would have done it. . Dallas are good at what they do.

Hard to argue against that at this point.

Watched another Nurse shift in the 2nd. Backs off his gap from Wyatt entering our zone and allows him to walk right into the slot for a dangerous shot. Then on the rebound, Nurse boots it into Skinners pad. Could have been his 3rd booted goal past Skinner these playoffs right there. But the big concern is his reads and gaps. He’s just letting guys waltz right in, won’t risk getting embarrassed with a dangle or something. Not playing with any instincts. Playing scared.

I wonder if the coaching staff hammered him for being too aggressive with his neutral zone pinches and he's overcompensating by sagging back. That or he's just sulking.

11-7 means more third line which might be worse than more Nurse/Ceci.

I don't know if it's worth it.
Honestly don't know that we have to make any lineup changes. The team just can't have massive lapses like they did last game.

Most of our goals we have to work for, but Dallas is getting their goals because we shoot ourselves in the foot. Not sure how changing players is going to fix that when the whole team played like shit for way too long of a stretch last game.

Our team is fairly capable of out playing the Stars over the course of a game, but the Stars aren't making as many bad plays as we are when being pressured and that's being the difference for me.
