Another deal that makes no sense at all, NJ shouldn't be trading these kind of assets right now and Chicago shouldn't be interested in moving DeBrincat at all.
This is clearly another deal that has no chance of getting done midseason, revisit in the offseason

Doubtful, Eichel trade biggest piece was Peyton Krebs.

Most you could get from New Jersey is probably something like.

Debrincat for 1st(top 10 protected)+ Holtz + Johnsson.
Eichel needed disc fusion surgery in his neck and hasn't played all year.

Don't know why people keep pointing to Eichel trade as some sort of baseline for every trade involving a good young player.

If Eichel was healthy, he'd have returned a hell of a lot more. And there would have been teams lining up to trade for him.

Absolutely. I've seen his trade.referenced a couple of times as a marker for other star players being traded and it makes no sense.
If the Eichel deal has really set the market, then players like DeBrincat are untradeable.

But if the Hawks were going to trade DeBrincat to NJ, it would have to be something like Holtz/Mercer/ top 2 protected 1st as the basis for the deal. The Hawks need 3 high end talents coming back.

Hawks do not do this. You are underrating Debrincat since Holtz has not proven anything yet.

Value wise it’s a fine offer.

but from a practical POV makes no sense for Chicago. They acquired Seth Jones and extended him. So makes no sense to move DCat for prospects and picks.

If the Hawks were silly enough to trade DeBrincat they would get more than that NJ package. Ty Smith, nice player. Holtz--meh, gotta see. He could very well be the next Alex Nylander or Eeli Tolvanen. You don't give up a 24 year old 40 goal scorer for that lol.

To Chicago:
Ty Smith
Alexander Holtz
2023 1st round pick (Top 5 protected, slides to unprotected 2024 if in the top 5)
the devils need more goal scorers, but not at the expense of a first round pick and holtz, who is the best goal scoring prospect.

As a bolts fan, the hawks would be stupid to trade a 24 year old 30+goal on a good contract for something that may not even be a 30 goal a scorer. If anyone would be moved it would be toews or Kane if they requested it.
