Clock and I got out of the house Saturday night to watch a movie. 2 tickets and a few concessions and BOOM $40. Now that isn't a huge deal for us (especially since we rarely go out), but for a kid, that's outrageous. Add gas on top of that. Poor kids. We had it so good in the 90's.
Yeah, we were actually discussing it on the way back home from the theatre. I remember filling up my Neon for like 10 bucks (or thereabouts) when I was a kid working for 5.40 or whatever a hair above minimum wage was. That was considered a pain. Now minimum wage is 7.25 (about a 40% increase), but gas is about 3.5 times more expensive.
About three hours of minimum wage would fill up a 10 gallon tank back in the day. Now it would take somewhere between eight and ten. That sucks.
I'm not sure if the Regal on Transit is less busy now because of the emergence of the Galleria or the movie industry in general is hurting a bit, but it was pretty surprising to see how generally empty that place was given that it was a Saturday night at 7:30.
PS, "Warm Bodies" was an enjoyable movie if you have zero expectations for a "serious" zombie movie.
