Itcwas a poor effort by too many of the Hawks..As I said...the old mantra about a team not having it after coming home for 1st game after a long road trip was exactly what we saw..A NO LO COMPETERE GAME ...

Bedard just doesn't skate well enough to generate his own offense consistently, its a lot of playing off his teammates. I know he said he worked on skating in the offseason, need to see more improvements in that area if he really wants to dominate the league.

Overrated isn't the word though.

I don’t know what it is but to my eyes he actually looks very slow.

Speed is a big thing. I also think he needs to focus on his one-timer instead of always having to corral the puck and use his wrister to get a sog.

Carrying the puck in control at top speed is a special talent that precious few players can do with any consistency. To date, Bedard has not shown he is one of them.

Bedard's top speed is fine but he really lacks explosiveness especially from a standstill

Too many times Ive seen a turnover come his way at the defensive blue line with the opportunity for an odd man rush and the back checker just smothers him before he can get going

So it's not just the Bears who turns everything to poop, so does the Hawks.

Some of the Bedard takes are going to look foolish in the not-so-distant future.
Well, there's a choice. One can gloss over what they see on the ice, or call it like they see it. It doesn't necessarily mean that one believes Bedard will never live up to the hype but it is where he is at 19 years old on a bad team and with little support.

Guys gonna be a stud. 100%. He's 19 playing C on a bad team. Like I've said before, he isn't a physically gifted player like McDavid or MacKinnon. Its all cerebral.

Can't discuss a player around here I guess. Overrated is a bit much but zero people in here said they're giving up. Zero lol. He's a great player.
Point taken but there's discussing and there's kvetching. Your post about Bedard's skating? Not a problem. Several of the other posts are not nearly as thoughtful or specific. Call it a personal failing but it makes the threads a drag.

Maybe. Maybe not.

MacKinnon is one of the best I’ve ever seen do that

What makes someone great or generational or whatever term you wish, is consistency. How many games did McDavid not have a point last season? I always feel he can do something every game, every shift. I don't get that sense with Bedard. And of course, his many games without a point proves it. No, I'm not asking for McDavid prowess. But right now, CB is not even close and frankly I would not even think about putting him on Team Canada for the 4 Nations. He may get the nod for PR purposes but not because he has earned it.

Obviously, he can become great. But maybe a victim of too much expectation too early.

Another rope-a dope? Hope so.
When realization comes around on this forum the way its hit social media that the problem is Kyle Davidson and his ineptitude at evaluating talent...
The jury is still out on KD but it seems to me that we may have a similar situation to the days of Stan and Q. Back then Q got all the criticism early when the team floundered, not Stan ... now Luke Richardson is in that same boat and rarely do we hear anything bad about KD. (I reckon that will change however after his questionable off-season acquisitions).

if i could quibble with the analogy, luke richardson has a lot to prove before the comparison to q makes sense, and kd is looking at basically the reverse job stanbo was looking at. rather than building around that 2010's core he was tasked with tearing it down and building a new one from scraps. the jury is still out on both, and so far this season hasn't returned obviously encouraging results regarding either.

Quite true. My point is that KD has proven nothing since taking over as Hawks GM.

Hard to believe that Oilers fans once upon a time gave McDavid shit for not being generational at Bedard’s age. We’ll all have a good laugh about it in a few years.

As hard as I am on management, I get that right now, the majority of the team as it stands won’t be here during the competing years. My prediction though is a trade being made during the offseason for a top 6 forward around Vlasic’s age to kick the rebuild into high gear.

It’ll probably be someone like Moore or Korch and be unpopular, but there’s a lot of picks and they can’t all make it. Lev is probably here next year, and bottom 6 guys like Dach and Savoie are already pretty close. Plus the top 5 pick hopefully being Martone. Next year, they hand it over to the kids and see who fits in the future plans and who they jettison.

This is a complete lie.

Mcdavid won the hart his second year. There was zero, I mean zero questions the guy wasn't generational and Oiler fans sure as shit didn't think that.

Good lord.....
