I have to admit, am I the only one who has never focused on Yanni Gourde's play during a game and have absolutely no idea why I'm just going along with the idea that we should give up everything for Gourde?

Hm, yes? :)

He is actually very notable.

I can't make any sense of that Kahkonen trade from San Jose's perspective.
It makes sense if they intend to move Reimer. Leaves them with a pair of 25 year old goaltenders who can fight it out for the #1 spot next year. Though what they gave up for him has me scratching my head. They could have gotten a good pick for Middleton, yet they added a pick to get Kaapo.

I like Rooney, but no room?

Kreider Mika Laf
Bread Strome Kakko
Vatrano Copp Garland
Chytil Rooney Reaves/Hunt/Brodz
We aren't getting both Copp and Garland, so there will be room. I seriously doubt Garland will be a Ranger.

Probably but you hold out and keep your offer for both 2nds on the table if thats what you have.

No need to up the ante just for the sake of getting this done. They need to move the player, just wait them out for the next 2.5 hours.
Agree. And thats the point I made about the 2nds.

You can move the late 1st if needed, and if someone falls you have the two 2nds to move up to grab a kid you like.

But I'd prefer to move the 1st for a player you intent to extend. Concussion issues scare me

I don't understand the desire of giving up a first and even first plus (crazy) with a guy whose had concussion issues.

I hope the plan is if they do end up giving up a 1st for Copp is a re-sign. He's ready to contribute in a top 6 roll.

Moving on from Reimer would definitely make it look more reasonable; though I still question why they'd prioritize goaltending when they're clearly going into a rebuild. Like you said, getting futures for him would be much more on target. It feels a little directionless.
