U18: Day 1 of the U18s GDT

Slovak snipe... Right over the shoulder of our 2 metre tall goalie. Perfect shot.. really liked the one touch pass from Strbak to the shooter

1-0 Slovakia

What I don't get... Unlike Canada.. Czechs have been together for weeks. At least 80 percent of this time has been together for several weeks. They look like it's the first time together. No chemistry... No attack.

Eg. Canada had no training time... Got anhilated but will get better. We don't have that built in excuse.

Slovak domination.. thrilled it's only 1-0.

Hrabal has been good. Several Czechs have been excellent at standing in the PK box and skating backwards and forwards.
Jiricek has looked confident but, honestly, Slovaks are killing it and we look like a U16 team.

I think it’s a pretty even match besides the penalties. Slovak powder play is awful, and Czechs are smart: COVER DVORSKY.

Why is it at every level the slovak powerplay is so bad?

I have to praise my favorite. Mr. Petr did not disappoint again and mentally set up his charges absolutely perfectly.

5 PKs lol. And I'm not blaming the refs... We just can't keep up. Period 2 is hopefully better.
Terrible just terrible 1st period. My fears, that this team is copletely out of form sadly seems to be right so far ...

But hopefully we will turn it around.

For example, Čech and Praha
Both of them sounds like a more hollow "h"

They don't sound similar at all. Completely different sounds. CH is articulated using the tongue, while H can be articulated using the throat only, with no involvement of the tongue needed.

Czech/Slovak CH is the same as Spanish J, German CH or Russian Х. Zdeno Chára's name has been mispronounced in the NHL for decades.

Americans/English are unable to pronounce CH, so they pronounce H instead.

Russians, conversely, are unable to pronounce H, so they pronounce G or CH instead. Pretty funny!

In Slovak and Czech, we pronounce both CH and H effortlessly, and they're completely different sounds.
