Davidson's Performance Evaluation Thread (read OP)

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Yeah, I'm out.

The Byram trade is the kind of perfect storm of overpayment, poor talent evaluation, and complete lack of understanding of where your team stands that it completely undermines any faith in the rebuild going forward.

I was behind KD because he was showing patience and commitment to a plan. Even if I didn't agree with particular choices like Lev over Demidov, they still fell within the bounds of the long-term vision for this build.

i figure it's charitable and fair enough to withhold judgement until the roster freeze or thereabouts. i'm not holding my breath to be wowed though.

i'd just like for one year to come where being optimistic about the team doesn't require giving management major benefit of the doubt. we are getting to the point of the rebuild where points were going to have to start being proven. the byram trade confirms and accelerates that. this upcoming season is now the most important single season of davidson's career so far because of it in my view. if they're still a bottom five team next year, they can pull the rip cord on the three 1st rounders, sure, but davidson shouldn't be the one doing it, whether that's picking or trading.

oooooh boy that presser ...not good....I get he has to be excited about Byram and core he has drafted...but basically said Bedards winger will have to come from within..like WTF is this clown show?

Listen, when you over-pay for landscaping, it's up to you to get up on a ladder and clean your own gutters.

Kyle spent his 'Bedard help' fund on a second pair D. Now 'Bedard help' has to be a DIY project.

Be easy if it came from within if we drafted any wingers in the top half of the first round. Frondell (3rd) and Nazar (13th) are continuing to be treated as centers in the organization.

🎯 but hey we got undersized Kantserov to save Bedard. Perfect playoff pairing. I mean I dont even care anymore they could have drafted Stenberg and then would have just made him Frondell's winger instead. Like just trade Bedard at this point its clear KD has zero intentions of helping him.

Adding an offensive Dman certainly helps Bedard.

I mean you are absolutely not wrong. I do think Byram will help Bedard on back end and on PP but ya that presser was an absolute wet noodle of just wait KD has to be making another move to get Bedard help.

The worst part of that press conference outside of making clear he has no plan to upgrade at wing was its clear Bedard contract talks are not going well and then he confirms he will work on Byram extension after Free Agency

Byram agent is going to absolutely abuse Davidson and Hawks

Yep..been saying it for a while. Bedard is not the kind of player to sit around and be ok with that. Especially after seeing players like Celebrini get the shine of National media while having legit NHL talent to play with. KD keeps f***ing around with fire.

To be fair, Kantserov may actually be able to become a legit top line forward and mesh well with Bedard.

I just wouldn't be moving a top 5 pick on a D because I'm banking on Kantserov hitting.

to be fair putting that type of pressure on Kantserov is not fair to him. Neither would have been putting it on Stenberg if we are being honest. Getting a younger veteran like Robertson or Knies should have always been the move for Bedsy's line

So Anaheim is shitting the bed with Carlsson and CBJ with Fantilli as well?

I'm not out on Davidson at all. There still needs to be adjustments to the top 6, but things are starting to fill in. He needs a 6th D-man (RH)

Opening Nite Roster from 2025-26

That roster is not good. And it assumes that Burakovsky's compromising photos of Blashill on Epstein Island were deleted.

Of course its not good, they're not going to be good. Theyre going to be a team outside the bottom 5. If things click, outside the bottom 10.

Oh goodie, now that they've addressed some of the problems with putting too much on the young defense, Kyle is going to put the kids up front in a vice to squeeze them into solutions. What could go wrong?

I am kind of happy for Kyle, he hasn't been able to make a real trade until now. He's been at the big boy table but wasn't allowed to do much for his first 4 1/2 years.

I hope he understands how fragile this thing is (because he guessed wrong at center in 24 and defense in 26') and does some more adding. Any injury to Bedard, Byrum, or Knight could be catastrophic.

Gryz is a UFA.
I expect someone will sign him at a decent price. Maybe 2x2.

Maybe a good time to remind people, we are still rebuilding.

And yet we just gave away #4 + #45 and a young RD

Doesn't sound like management believes they are still rebuilding infact Davidson now that he has locked down his "#1 defender" is setting expectations pretty high

Hawks with a #1 C, #1 D and #1 G and all this wonderful talent should be in playoff mix according, should they not?
