News Article: Davidson on 2025 draft: If there’s an opportunity that makes sense to use that pick on the market, then we’ll absolutely explore that.

Probably, but it’s a hypothetical that’s interesting to think about.

How long until porter Martone gets as good as Brady, if he ever does?
The bigger concern is that the Hawks don't take a meaningful step into the postseason over the next couple years and then B. Tkachuck leaves via Unrestricted Free Agency, or making it clear he won't extend and Hawks make a pennies on the dollar recoup to his handpicked destination (due to his expiring contract and at that point, No Movement Clause).

hopefully, never really know what the suits above him want, he tried to move the pick once already
I think the attempt to move the pick for Demidov was KD looking forward to this years draft and anticipating that it’d be a fairly weak draft (and of course others thought the same which is why it was difficult to consummate a trade) which came to fruition. So yes, I think it’s a very underrated point that he absolutely already tried to trade the pick and so jt shouldn’t be out of the question that he may actually seriously consider doing it again.

Also, I too came here to get thoughts on trading it for Brady Tkachuk. Also, while the cap is rising, the Sens aren’t in the best position cap-wise and I wonder if he also would want to play in a US market.

As I posted in another thread:

There's smoke that because Brady had it written into his contract that he got to wear the "C", the culture in Ottawa isn't that good. I'm not sure taking in a guy who feels needs to do that to get the C is such a great fit for the Hawks.

Also, given Brady could leave as a UFA in pretty short order, wouldn't it make more sense to sign a UFA and give up nothing, than to give up potential franchise altering talent for a guy who could leave in 3 years?

Yeah he wouldn't re-sign with the Sens unless they gave him the C

Some of the best players have been pricks.
I don't think it's a disqualifier.

Brady is a unicorn. I'm not sure you pass up an opportunity to get him if you have it.

Big problem for a team that hasn't yet identified its future leadership group

You can insert a prick into the mix once there are guys that can put them in their place

I've never heard Davidson talk in certainties or about specific players to target. He'll always say "We are open to the idea of 'x', but remain optimistic to the idea of 'y'". He is about as vague of an interview as you can come by. One interviewer asked him "What are you eating for lunch today?" I shit you not he responded with "I am looking into the idea of Portillos, but I'm not opposed to the idea of Panera"

This is a nothing burger
