Prospect Info: David Reinbacher - Laval Rocket edition

I have a feeling Mailloux is also going to be pushing for a spot
Maybe, maybe not. Out of 15 games i scouted him, yesterday was his first error free game that also used his offence. He was punishing in front of the net and on the boards as well as pinching in, Math style.

It's been up and down with him. A few games ago I started to wonder if he was using and started to call him Jethro. Yesterday's game was at another level. If he keeps playing like yesterday's game through the playoffs, that would be amazing for next season.

But...remember management invested a 5th on Reinbacher so he gets the first shot at replacing Savard. Plus SMarty has his favorites...

Wow...so many fantasies, so little time.

I watched all of Reinbacher game and not ONCE did he get to a net front battle, but suddenly he's going to be better then Guhle. He barely even made board contact on the first 8 games played.

He may be as good as Guhle, or may not, but all these declarations are amusing...

To anyone reading this thread who didn't watch the games, this is one of the least reliable posts I've read recently. For example, someone who watches the games would know Reinbacher completely crushed a Belleville player along the boards after it was 3-0 in the second period and unfairly got a penalty for it.

When? Which games? The only physicality I seen from him is the last two games.

Next year D is already set with Reinbacher replacing Savard.

Ghule Hutson
Matheson-Carrier
Xhekaj-Reinbacher
Struble

We just need that good 2C
Lol, why do you have Xhekaj slotted in ahead of Struble? Struble took his job, and has been rock solid for months now - something we have never seen from Arber. Dude can’t even play solid for a whole game most nights. We might not even see Xhekaj in MTL again after this summer. Arber, that is. I think it’s a good chance he gets dealt before next season.

BTW...I didn't get today's Beleville game but according to the boxscore, neither Rein nor Mailloux played. Found that odd since they have a week off (or more) waiting for the other playoff series to end. Maybe even justified for Rein given that now he's playing physical.

Anywho...not a big deal, but a tiny bit odd.

You may wish we had Arber back when Demidov starts getting abused. Who on this roster is gonna step in. Good luck Ivan, our most coveted trinket in 50 years

Matheson loves the group, loves playing in MontreaL, is willing to accept whatever role the team needs, and is currently paid like a 3D. Nothing wrong with a contender having ONE d-man in his mid-30s.

I can't put my hand in the fire for it, but I think there is a strong chance Matheson gets extended if we are a contending team.
Matheson is fine if you control who he plays against.

Guhle-Carrier
Struble-Hutson
Matheson-Reinbacher

It's great to have two solid RD prospects in Mailloux and Reinbacher. With Savard retiring one of them is in the NHL for sure. If the Habs move one of Struble / Xhekaj / Matheson or any injuries and we likely see both in Montreal next season. Very nice problem to have

They rested many of their star players in a meaningless game against an eliminated rival team that isn't exactly known to play clean. Nothing surprising there.

Obviously they diidn't send most of the top players to Belleville to avoid injuries. And why the hell would you expect a lot of hitting from Reinbacher when he is just returning from injury. The last 2 games were the only ones that meant anything.

Let's see how the postseason shakes out before counting out Xhekaj. Neither Struble or Reinbacher is a bonafide dur à cuire.

Habs could really use an healthy Reinbacher against the big Caps, it will be interesting to see if they call him up when the serie is back to MTL, especially if we are down 0-2.

We could roll something like this:

Guhle Carrier

Hutson Reinbacher

Xhekaj/Struble Savard

I think Matheson needs to sit. he has been a turnovers machine lately. Reinbacher on the 2nd PP wave.

Up front, I would give Laine a last chance, if he keeps struggling 5 on 5, Heineman takes his spot on the 2nd line and Demidov jumps on the top PP unit.

MSL would resign before sitting Matheson

I’d try him 100% instead of Savard, but I’d have Matheson play with him actually. Matheson has been extremely frustrating, but he’s still better than Savard and Struble.

Given his history with knee issues this season, no thank you. The kid needs to strengthen his knee right now, not getting it demolished. He has to be ready in September.

I wish Reinbacher all the best but imagine favoring playing him above Xhekaj against a team that hit everything that move. It would be a terrible decision as the risk of hin getting injured would be quite high.
