What I've been noticing is he panics when a player is closing on him. I don't know if it's a fear of being hit, but if someone approaches him with speed he just seems to make this panic pass to no one, or most times, the other team.

His spinning backhand passes are giving me grey hairs.

I think his whole game is off, but maybe having Zacha back in the middle again, will get his game back, they never should have been separated anyways.

So now we're learning that Pasta was injured this summer as well, and couldn't train for a month and a half. That's Pasta and Marchand, you're two best players who could not prepare for the season or ramp up the way they normally do. That explains a lot about their starts to the season.

This explains and confirms what many of us suspected regarding Pastrnak's play. However, that doesn't explain the poor play and disorganization of so many of the other's. I still believe there are problems here beyond the recoveries of Pastrnak and Marchand from off season injuries. But maybe that's just me.

Yep. It seems they (meaning a large group of players) came to camp out of shape. Monty said 'conditioning was a problem in camp but is not anymore.' That's a problem.

He also said the pace and intensity at practice increased dramatically when Marchand came back. That's another way of saying the pace and intensity sucked before Marchand got out there... That's another problem.

Maybe the excuse is that the captains set the pace but there are supposed to be more leaders on this team than just Marchand and Pasta.

Last year they were terrified of being bad. They came to camp determined to pick up the slack and keep the tradition going. This year, they came in feeling comfortable, relaxed, over confident...

Marchand and Pasta limited who's supposed to lead McAvoy? Give me a break. Or Coyle or Carlo? Your more likely to get leadership from Swayman while he's holding out and doing his podcasts.

Pasternak will still score 40 goals in an off year. Do we even have someone else who's a lock for 20 at this point?

I could agree with this, and Ladyfan is so close to the bench I beleive her instinct. Then, why in the hell does Monty yell at Marchand and call's Pastrnak if Boston's management knew they were both off schedule on their summer training and were not ready at the season beginning.

I don't really know what to think of this........

So why is he telling Anderson that wasn't him and he has no limitations?

The bigger issue that jumps out at me from your post is that the team was banking on a 36 year old winger coming off back to back sub-70 point seasons and 3 surgeries to be one of their two best players.

Again, I still am not sur what to think about all this....but something likely seem wrong.
They will never announce what his issue is while he is playing. The other team nails him a lot already ...They do not need to know the details of any injury. That would make no sense.

I agree with you.
Was responding to Lou and in any case, something is likely wrong.

David Pastrnak is in a slump offensively, and for a Bruins team in dire need of goal-scoring, his drought comes at an unfortunate time.

The NHL All-Star only has two goals in his last 12 games dating back to Oct. 29. His eight total goals this year still lead Boston, but Pastrnak hasn’t felt like the usual elite goal scorer that he’s been for some time.

And occasionally, in a slump like Pastrnak’s, the easy parts just get complicated. On Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings, Pastrnak cleaned up a loose puck right on the doorstep … and didn’t seem to know what he should do next.

Pastrnak had multiple chances to score — or at the very least register a shot on the play — but instead deked himself out of position and flipped an awkward pass through the zone.

While Pastrnak’s scoring struggles are worrisome for a Boston team that’s scored two goals or fewer in each of its last five games, interim coach Joe Sacco is not concerned with his star. In fact, he doesn’t plan on saying anything to Pastrnak about the slump.

“I think that I’m going to leave him alone a little bit here, give him some space,” Sacco told reporters postgame. “He’s certainly pressing. But, when he gets looks like that, they will eventually go in. He’s too good of a hockey player. So, just give him some space and hopefully he finds that touch.”

As captain Brad Marchand noted after the game, the goal-scoring issues don’t fall on one person. The entire team hasn’t been up to snuff in the offensive zone this season. But, a couple of wins to build off of might be what the Bruins need to gain confidence as a group.

“Sometimes goals come easier than other times,” Marchand said. “Right now it seems like we have to compete and battle and fight a little harder to get goals, which is fine. You just have to be smart about your game, and if that’s the case, then we need to be really tight defensively. … It’s really understanding how your game’s going and how you have to play to have success.”

Pasta leads the league in shots on goal and 7th in shots missed. He's firing away but he can't get them to go in consistently so far. He's on pace for 31 goals, which for Pasta would be a down year. I'm confident they'll start going in more for him.

It's no secret he is obviously playing hurt
He might benefit from a few weeks off but they are already so short on offense it's hard for him to sit out. 50 percent pasta probably better than anyone they can call up. Stinks that this injury has lingered

So no injury in summer as that facebook account was bogus. He is physically fine, this is all mental, he is simply over thinking everytime he has the puck.

Wish we kept at least one of Jake, Heinen or JVR. Secondary scoring to take the pressure of him is needed, he is targetted and Sweeney did not help.

Please read post #829 and post # 830, posting after that should reflect that reality. He is fine, he is shooting at the highest rate in the league, again it is not physical.

I think you are right they will start going in, I was encouraged yesterday that line was moving and all three were getting opportunities, a good sign the way they were playing.
