Pastrnak or Matthews

I still think Matthews will be the better player, but he isn't producing in these playoffs.

I mean he's a generational talent, equal to Malkin right?

Actually he's equal to Auston Matthews, as he's a different player on a completely different development curve. Not sure why it's necessary to compare him to a top 3 player on this generation. Especially not sure why it's important to kick him while he's down.

It's nice that you think so, but as is widely documented only a handful of Leaf fans believe that. Keep spreading the word though, maybe you'll make a thing of it.

Oiler fans should know better than anyone a couple bad playoff games do not define a player. He was pretty solid last year.

It's what this guy does. Western fans are obsessed with Matthews. There really isn't much we can do about their irrational hatred beyond laugh at it.

Matthews since he plays a valuable position, but it's closer than a lot of people think it is.

Pastrnak is amazing but he’s still the 3rd best player on his line.

What if Matthews played with Marchand and Bergeron?

how is it stupid?

its comparing 2 ppg forwards. i fail to understand why leafs fans get so defensive when their players are compared to others

Because its usually started by some Leaf hating troll with some sort of an agenda, who really doesn't care about the question and just creates this thread with the sole purpose of sitting back and watching the fireworks go off between fanbases. Pretty f***ing pathetic if you ask me.

I'm sorry, but a fellow Leafs fan made that comparison and stuck by it.

I'm sure you had no issue with that comparison.

I bet the Oiler fans are piling up :P

Ah, the victim card comes out yet again.

Ah, the victim card comes out yet again.

I don't think you know what that means. That statement is about as intelligent as wining because the guy who's car you trashed expects you to pay for it. Calling people on their poor behaviour is not victimization, it's reality.

Yes it is inconvenient for those with dubious behaviour, they would rather live without consequences, like little children, but these types of people do have the power to stop and correct the pattern. Of course that requires personal growth and maturity so we know this is doubtful, but one can hope.

leafs fans choose to go off, you dont have to get triggered every time someone mentions the leafs.

Pasta is the right answer. Looks like yet another thread where Matthews gets the "player he'll become" treatment instead of the player he is right now, while Pasta doesn't get the same treatment.

Good. Bye bye.

You also might want to look up arrogant.

You should probably stick with "I know you are but what am I" because all I am seeing is *****ing and moaning over your antics being pointed out and responding with weak assed insults and feeble deflections because you can't handle being called on it.

Your posts will come off better if you start using words you know the meaning of.

He used victim card wrong; if he had quoted your post about how the OP is out to get your fanbase because he hates the Leafs then he would have a better point. However, it doesn't look like he was off the mark by saying your post was arrogant. The bolded sounds pretty arrogant to me, no?

His behaviour might be dubious in your opinion, but then you to go on to assume that all people who act "dubiously" would rather live like children, with a life void of consequence? Of course you provide a nice solution by saying that these people could stop the dubious patterns if they simply found some personal growth and maturity? But naturally, it is doubtful that they will ever grow or be mentally mature.

Right - that's quite the psychological profile that you drew from a few posts in an on-line forum. He could be quite a nice person, maybe he comes on here for kicks or jokes. You've never rubbed some people the wrong way? That passive-aggressive post doesn't come out and say, "I'm better than you", but it comes about as close as it can and it sure is haughty.

Have to go Pasta here for now. Matthews has all the tools but I’d like to see him put up 30+ assists and 70+ points before he is worthy of the hype he gets.

That reasoning is fair but he has kinda done that the past 2 seasons (technically). 69 points and 29 assists last year, 83 point pace and 36 assist pace this year (Missed 20 games).

So far Matthews averages 75 points per full season while Pastrnak averages 65, and the latter plays with Bergeron and Marchand. I honestly don't see how this is even a debate.

Pastrnak is just the flat out better player. This poll is biased. It's not who's more valuable or whatever, it's who's better, nobody cares if its C vs W.
