Zegras for Jiricek as a base?

Anaheim has the young C depth and lost their RD depth after trading Drysdale. The move would make for a more well rounded prospect pool.

CBJ gets a young player that can be inserted now and maybe player wing for one of Fantilli or Lindstrom later on.

I feel like kj brings similar game/style as zegras…. Prob doesn’t make sense for columbus.

I also think it would be a mistake for Anaheim to move zegras before coach change

I like jiricek and would be interested, but I don’t think we have the right pieces(wouldn’t be willing to move Mintyukov/dostal/carlsson or sennecke)

I completely forgot about Kent Johnson.

A playmaking skilled winger pairs nicely with a big skilled power forward. CBJ has two of those. Maybe they still have interest in Zegras and run a top 6 of…

Zegras - Fantilli - X
KJ - Lindstrom - X

For the next 10 years.

I’m just trying to save my idea though lol

We already had Sonny Milano. Hard pass on Zegras

As far as I know you won't find many CBJ fans who are Zegras fans. I know I certainly wouldn't make that deal

Zegras performs much better at center than wing

Meh?

The first proposal that actually is too in favor of Columbus.

Zero chance the Panthers will deal Lundell. PPG two-way stud center in the first year of one helluva beautiful contract. The rest of the names, although fine players, don’t matter. The second you type Lundell, Panthers would say no. Maybe someday Jiricek became an equivalent level of player on the blueline…it’s possible…but far, far too great of a gamble for Florida.

Rest of the offers are what you would expect…bad for Columbus.

Well I was thinking they need the money to re-sign Bennett.

Although, if Bennett would re-sign with Columbus...would that work?

I mean I’m not a Florida fan per se but I don’t see any reason they won’t come to terms with Bennett at this point, given the terms most of their big guns have been agreeing to, and keep the spine of the offense going with Barkov-Bennett-Lundell.

I don’t think either Lundell or Bennet makes the other expendable in any way. I think rolling three top tier centers is how you build a Cup winning group.

If Bennett doesn’t want to sign until next summer I think he’s still too important for the Panthers who are gunning for another Cup and an unsigned Bennett is way too risky for Columbus.

The thing is the Jackets forward group is looking pretty good right now and is really blossoming under hard circumstances - and that’s with Fantilli not truly beasting yet and their best and most NHL ready prospect in Brindley being shelved with injury still.

Provorov is a pending UFA. You’ve got Werenski who is amazing. Severson is serviceable. And some plucky depth guys. But Jiricek and Mateychuk are the defensive building blocks you can really count on.

I don’t see how it makes sense for the Jackets to deal their top (or 1A/1B building block with Mateychuk) blueline building block for more forward depth when that’s the area that seems to be more stocked and more “ready” to go. They definitely don’t need more picks or middle six forward prospects or to exchange him for several lesser pieces.

The blueline will clear up, there will absolutely be space for Jiricek to develop at the NHL level…it may be a “partial” season for him in terms of NHL games but he will definitely be cleared for a good role by next season if he learns and grows as one would expect. As far as him losing playing time right now to guys like JJ or Christianson…A) Christianson has been really good and earned his spot and B) when you’ve gone through the off-season from literal hell like Columbus, a familiar and super respected teammate and face in JJ does more than you might imagine.

And just because JJ is in the line-up now, 10 games into a season, doesn’t mean Jiricek won’t get a chance. A lot of what Columbus has to navigate is a bit more extensive than other teams. They had a plan to cultivate a real team mentality and it is working, I would say.

Justin Barron or Logan Mailloux?
Barron has no value to anyone, and, as is the case for most prospects in his position, he is best served by staying with his current team with hopes that he might be able to find a way to put his game together.

Roy and the Florida/Calgary 1st is approaching the right ballpark.

Some people like the drafting part but are impatient with the development part

The Jackets don’t need Joshua Roy. And they don’t need a 2 for 1 asset deal.
