So we’re trading a guy we got at 6 for a pick that could easily be in the 10-20 range ? Not sure that makes sense

In a much stronger class than 2025. It's a risk for both teams; if the Blues suck again, they're out a very high 2026 pick, and I think it's likely, considering how far away their top prospects are.

He's playing great in the ahl. NHL Coaching staff he's fantastic with the puck, needs to clean up the defensive side. I'm sorry where's the struggle? Once again, he's a 20 year old defensemen.

Where's the threads for every other defenseman drafted in the last 3 years? Jesus.
Who is assuming those players are avaliable and calling on them?

Jiricek is only dman of the last 3 years I've heard publicly complain about his usage. He's the only one I think who sat game after game this season. Why didn't he play way more in the NHL or just start in the AHL all year. There's clearly disagreement or tension here.

That's why.

He was angry when Jarmo told him to get a place only to send him down. He had every right to be. Plenty of young guys have been in and out of line ups. He just went to the ahl with no complaints.

Where's the disagreement or tension? Be specific please.

He literally complained about playing tome co.pared to Korchinski and Nemic.
Waddle said he needs to be better.

Other CBJs fans defending him not playing are saying because he needs to workout to get stronger or faster, and didn't enough over the off-season. All of this is outward complaints or speculation of tension.

Young prospects dont sit almost 3/4 or 2/3 range of the time just to sit and learn. How are you defending that as normal? Thats mismanagement you should be pissed at.

I'd offer Hage or Reinbacher + pick
Offer us Hage. Montreal got a steal with Hage. He's twice the prospect Reinbacher is. You owe us for the Monahan deal anyway. Can't believe we're sending a 1st this year to switch Monahan out with Kadri. They are basically the same player.

I am a big fan of Jiricek, but him doing all he can to force his way into the NHL when he clearly isn't ready is a big red flag if I was an opposing team. I saw the same thing when Zadorov was drafted and forced Buffalo's hands and he's barely a manageable #4. He could've been more.

his value is entirely tied to him playing in the AHL. If he does that, and does well, he’s fine, but if he continues this whole “i don’t belong there” thing he did previous then his value will take a hit.

Leo Carlson last year. Will smith this year. Just off the top of my head.

Mismanagement would be giving a guy minutes that clearly isn't ready just because he was a high draft pick. That would be mismanagement.

He just had an OT GWG on a rush he started with a defensive play he made. Seems like he's there and doing well

They sat here and there, not playing small minutes playing, what 6/18 games.

Yes, that would be bad... which is why he should of been in the AHL to start the year? That he wasn't makes the reasons something people question.

Something around Jiricek for Reinbacher?

Both top 10 picks RHD that lost development time due to knee surgery.

I was higher on Jiricek than I was on Reinbacher, but the last year has been concerning.

The thread is about where Juicek is right now and what his value might be. IMO it’s good now. Columbus could expect another club’s stalled high pick in return. Like Reinbacher from the Habs.
How exactly is Reinbacher a "stalled" prospect?

Why are the Habs adding to Reinbacher? Hage isn’t going anywhere. He’s exactly what we need. Columbus just needs to hold onto Jiricek. Same as the Habs holding onto Reinbacher. We don’t know what we have and to move him with a + and for him to blossom into a number one or two DMan while Jiricek ends up a bust? Or Reinbacher busting with Columbus. Let some other club take the risk on Jiricek especially if it involves Hage or Reinbacher. Patience is needed by both fan bases

So you think there's tension just because he started in the NHL? How many straws you gonna grasp at in one thread?

Jiricek GWG in OT for the monsters by the way. Didn't look very disgruntled.

Habs aren't trading Reinbacher while he's injured. Doesn't make sense for CLB to take that risk or improve/diversify the Habs prospect pool in a meaningful way.

If it's a deal with the Habs, Mailloux could be a possible starting point. Mailloux has a very similar skillset, similar weaknesses, similar age, better production, and he's willing to play in the AHL - not quite the same pedigree though. I'm not certain there's a reason to move Mailloux, but it's possible Habs management see higher upside with Jiricek and CLB see the value in continuing to develop a player of this style.

Jiricek is literally playing in the AHL.

“Willingness to play in the AHL” is not a selling point for Columbus nor does it add value to the other player.

There is zero reason for Columbus to consider dealing Jiricek for Mailloux.
