I think the Penguins would almost assuredly be adding assets on top of Pettersson to get that deal done. I don't think Mynio and a 1st for Jiricek gets it done.

But at that point, why would Columbus be trading Jiricek for quantity? Like I said, I'm skeptical that kind of deal would get done.
Others are saying "hockey trade" so like many have suggested it will probably be a similar level prospect 1 for 1 and maybe a small pick one way or the other.

If he has to be traded I dont know why they don't wait and try and add him in a big deal for an established guy but if we go off what's actually out there we will see a top prospect for top prospect swap

It probably doesn’t, I’m just saying it’s a silly idea that Vancouver would choose the impending UFA they may not be able to re-sign rather than the big, RHD that was a recent 6th overall pick.

I understand but that wasn't my question
To answer your question, no.

I feel confident because that tweet would have been posted 3, or 4 times and I hadn't seen anyone else say something similar with a given timeline.

I'm sure if it doesn't happen it's because there's a "new" player who jumped into the mix

Wasn’t he benched and sent down last year? Haven’t kept up with either Jacket this year. I know KJ is a local product so hence the offer/ask.
he got injured late last year (required surgery), looked dynamite for his first few games under a new staff, then got hurt again, came back, and… looked even better.

kj has 9 points in 6 games this year and looks like a star. he's also on a 3-year bridge at $1.8m AAV. he is arguably one of the most untouchable pieces in the sport imo.

Flyers should definitely be in on this; they’ve got ammo

Some combination of pieces I’d put on the table:

Farabee
Frost
Foerster
Drysdale
3 1sts
3 2nds

You have a blank among your ammo on table there

Drysdale is injured again and has been horrific when healthy for Flyers. Hard to see Jackets having interest in that

But maybe I am wrong, and they make same mistake Flyers did

Shane Wright or Zegras seem plausible if it’s a one for one. Couple guys who are stalled in their growth. Similar to Juricek.

the upshot to the whole "we're looking for a hockey trade" thing is that if a team really wants jiricek and can't pull off a hockey trade, they have to make a godfather offer to get waddell to listen.

Waddle is the new GM in CBJ. Not on him that Jiricek was the 6OA pick in 2022. So, he doesn't have a lot of rope left in CBJ. And if moved, he won't for the new team either.
He is 20 yrs old d man. He has a ton of rope left and his entire carrier ahead of him. Not sure what you’re talking about.

I've been joking about it, but I do wonder if McGroarty+ for Jiricek is something Dubas would push. Portzline said Dubas was scouting Cleveland when Jiricek was playing and it seems like the Penguins are interested. McGroarty or their 2025 1st are really the only 2 assets that could move the needle there. I would trade the Penguins 2025 1st for Jiricek if I had any way of knowing that it would be 6th or later, but I just can't confidently say that.

Would be a bad look for Dubas to trade McGroarty this quickly, but business is business.

I wouldn't hate the idea of that. Hell, I brought up Kent Johnson to Winnipeg for him over the summer. I look like an idiot now, but I'll own it.

I think that the new management might feel that they want less entitlement from Jiricek and his people. Since they didn't pick him, they are less married to the idea of keeping him, and dealing with the mess that the previous regime made out of his development.

In a general sense, you are right. Most prospects, especially D, shouldn't be judged this early. In this particular case, though, mistakes were made on both sides, and Waddell and his people might want to wash their hands of it all and get what they can for him.
