I’m in full on Hak bash mode

I’ll never forget game 3 of these playoffs. The score is 4-1 Penguins. Commercial break. Out comes Manning and Gudas. Not the guy who just scored a goal (Sanheim). Not the guy who lead the league in goals in the reg season (Provorov). Not the guy who scored 14 in the reg season (Gostisbehere). Nope Manning and Gudas.

The guy is an absolute idiot and this team will never win anything with him.

Ghost scored twice against pens in regular season too.

I'll never forget that, after a full season on our top line as one of our two best natural wingers, he arbitrarily demoted Konecny to a 12 minute a night player for the entirety of the playoffs.

Because he wanted the line to be “heavier”

What an absolute moron.

I mean, just think about how that one move substantially impacts our team negatively. Then add in every other thing he does.

Makes me wanna drink. Well, drink more I guess.

Yeah, it severely weakens the top line and it buries one of our best scorers, so he has no chance to be a factor. TK, our fastest skater and best shooter... on the 3rd line.

When playing a super fast and skilled team the best thing to do is to make sure you utilize the least amount of your own skill and speed as possible. You go from a one line team to a zero line team. The line that did the most to carry you to the playoffs... gone.

The only chance we had to compete in that series was if the top line went nuts like they had the rest of the year... and he made sure that didn’t happen.

It just blows my mind that someone could be that clueless and make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to do it.

Ah yes.

And with moving Raffl to Konecny’s spot he described the line as a “heavier, more grinding line” as if it was a good thing.

Good times.

TK SCORED TWO f***ING GOALS IN THE FIRST HALF OF A GAME AND GOT BENCHED FOR NOT PLAYING THE RIGHT WAY.

I’m calm.

Hypocricy and double standards are near the top of the list of things in life (not just hockey) that annoy me the most.

Unfortunately, it’s also among Hakstols favorite things to display.

The fact that he benches young players for any mistake, even if they’re indisputably a net positive in overall impact, but refuses to bench vets for equal/worse crimes, is some of the most frustrating stuff I’ve seen in sports.

In reality, it should be the other way around. The young guys are still learning and gaining experience... and the best way to improve is to fail, pick yourself back up, and learn from it. Benching them as soon as they make a mistake does nothing to help them improve and can hurt their confidence. Meanwhile vets, who should know better, get a free pass and never see any repercussions. There’s just no logic behind it.

What’s funny is that the Hakstol defenders have now started to try to weave a narrative where the young guys are benched because they’re rebellious and refuse to do as the coaches ask, as if it’s an attitude problem. Forget that there’s absolutely no reason to think that’s the case. We’ll just go ahead and lie to defend the coach, I guess.

What do you call a roster with Filppula, Lehtera, Leier, Weise, Read, Manning, Hagg, MacDonald?
With Elliott, Neuvirth and Mrazek in goal?
With only one player consider top ten at his position (Giroux), two players considered top 20 (Couts, Ghost).

4 forwards who'd be considered top 6 caliber
2 defensemen who'd be considered top 4 caliber.

That's not bottom ten talent?

Now in a year or two, IF Patrick, Lindblom, Sanheim, Myers emerge, the addition of JVR, and the eventual emergence of Hart and Frost, this could be a top ten roster and a legitimate playoff contender.

But last year???

The notion that one of Giroux, Couturier, Simmonds, TK, or Voracek isn't a top 6 forward is hilarious.

Simmonds is a top six foward? By what standard?

Have you read the trade Simmonds threat, I'd say most of the board would agree with me that he's a 3rd line forward, especilaly last year hobbled with the groin injury among other aliments.

You know injuries aren't permanent, right?
