Could you link me to the original post that discussed it? I can then listen to the podcast myself for the quote.

They’re probably hyperbolizing an event like the Wild not being permitted to talk to Kaprizov at the world juniors however many years ago. Anything they say will likely be pro Russia and taken with a grain of salt.

See post #698 in the thread below. Also see Russo's article that basically insinuates the same thing. His entire Athletic article is flat out ridiculous. The piece even include a picture of Putin. Lololololol

Journalists like him prey on dumb people's confirmation bias. Melodrama sells. Holds true for both sides.
Alright, now back to Yurov.

Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov remains in Russia amid reports of fake military ID, flight to U.S.
LW/RW Kirill Kaprizov - CSKA Moscow, KHL (2015, 135th, MIN)

I mean, this isn't outlandish.
Typically, CSKA Moscow players have been exempt from military service in the past. That might be an informal rule, though. “You’re in the Army, but your job is to play hockey,” one Russian source said. “Somebody’s job is to drive a tank and your job is to hold a stick.”
This isn't limited to hockey. E-sports have had the same things where players can get exemption but some could not so they had to take a 1-2 years off to fulfill military duties. This is with South Korea, on a regular day, that wasn't in the first stages of a war, and not on teams that are rooted with governemnt (other than maybe SKT Telecom). No one gives a hoot about LoL gaming here -.- yet they still had to deal with that.

This article is just about all the uncertainties and no one can deny how many unknowns there were with the war, specifically deals with the unknowns of a current hockey superstar thats intertwined with a national team in a middle of a war, and government heavily influenced/run by Putin

I'm not saying that applies to Yurov - I'm not one of the posters that can't just see a horse as a horse - less production might just be a less a successful season. And he's not a country superstar like Kaprizov, and I've always seen Yurov as top six forward so this season just implies he might be closer to Rossi than he is Kaprizov, a good 1st line, very good 2nd liner.

Anyways, I'm gonig to leave this discussion. This thread is about Yurov and not about Russo/Kaprizov. Feel free to respond and I will read but will not reply so you can have final say

He’s been overrated by most fans here for awhile. Let’s not forget the fans that were clamoring to trade Rossi bc Yurov was going to walk into a Top 6 C role.

Nobody was “clamoring” to trade Rossi here. Yurov was a top 10 draft talent that fell due to the Russia invasion. Let’s not sour on the guy because he is down from last year’s production.
