It was amazing listening to the smug little twit blabber about the canucks while our oilers were the worst team in the league and all he did all year was defend them. Even the most die hard oilers fans that dislike the Canucks could only roll their eyes at that incident.

Guess he went on to do bigger and better things. I still miss him from the Nightly Oilers after-game shows. Although Wilkins is good.

Tencer is pretty much everything that is wrong with hockey culture around this town. Way too many smarmy people who think memorizing stats makes them experts on hockey. Hearing Tencer on the radio was an automatic turn to another station for me. GFY Tencer

Good riddance. I remember him once tweeting at 2 AM in the morning about how he is going golfing on wednesday and then he's going to have a beer and watch the game after it. I tweeted him back "Shhhhh, other people are sleeping. No one cares", he then tweeted me back with "Don't follow me ****" and blocked me on twitter.
About a week later, I ran into Tencer at Southgate mall and my buddy wanted to go meet him. So he dragged me over to meet Tencer. They talked about sports, and other things, then Tencer looked at me and asked for my name. I said "You know my name. You called me a **** on twitter then blocked me. Remember?". He then paused, looked at the whole me (6'4 290 pounds of me) and he immediately apologized in front of me (I swear he peed his pants too). He then scurried off and while he was walking away, I say out loud "Next time when others say a joke to you, don't call them a ****".

ill be honest, he will be missed on my radio. i loved his passion for the oilers and for his job. anyone who things he didnt put in the hours behind the scenes is fooling themselves. i was partially skeptical when he moved over to the mornings, but he and andrew created a fun and entertaining local radio show. no they are not dace rutherford, but thats a lofty position to aspire to. i wish him all the best and hope to hear him on the radio again soon
He woke up one morning and was able to put on lace up shoes instead of velcro.
Oh, and to keep it on topic - he stopped having anything relevant to say about the Oilers about the same time he was slamming the Canucks for their inadequacies.

If he was going to be fired for a job he wasn't qualified for, I wish it were the goofy regional scouting job given to him by the neophyte owners of my hometown Saskatoon Blades. Undone by arrogance and immaturity this is a tough life lesson that affects only him. Now the potential to sewer the dreams of hard luck Blades fans is something different entirely

My biggest problem with Tencer is when he would "MY name is on the show"--
Because I am older then most of the posters here--most of you guys never listened to John Short in the 80's--John Short is a guy that would be the king of sports radio if he was still active today full time. Gregor has had him on a few times--JS put everyone to shame and when he came on after the oiler broadcast when they stunk up the place--he called it like it was

Like everything else that was great in the 80's.... Sheesh, John Short was radio Nyquil when he had his Team 1260 radio show 8-10 years ago.

Oh, I think everyone agrees Stauffer is essentially an Oilers mouthpiece, most people were not Tencer or Michaels fans, and many believe writers like Jones and Matheson are over the hill.
I would think most of the Cult of Hockey writers are accepted.

I'm pretty easy going. Yeah, Stauffer is the shill/mouthpiece so I don't listen to him anymore or anything 630 in general. I like Jameson and Gregor, don't mind Majeau (liked him better with Struds)... speaking of Struds, he's great! I know a lot of people hated on Megs but I didn't mind listening to her at all, in fact I liked her. Nielsen & Fraser try way too hard to be funny and turn their morning show into some sort of comedy shtick. I can appreciate them but I've found myself changing the dial more and more often just recently with the morning show. They're just not that funny IMO but I still like them of course. Been a huge upgrade from the previous years lol.
Rishaug is up and down but mostly up, I just really didn't like his blatant ripping/trolling/whatever the **** of Nail last year. The media was really on Yaks ass and I hated it, he and Matheson were driving the bus on that. Matheson is washed up. Staples, the Oilologosphere and these guys I do have great respect for and appreciate their perspectives even though I'm not a big analytics guy. That reminds me, I really like Lowetide and his show with Lt. Eric. They're building a great chemistry and can talk about any and all sports, media or current events. Overall I think we have a pretty good group of people in this city covering the team and sports in general (should have more females for sure though!), but still disappointed by the lack of hard questions *somewhat* being asked.
The Edmonton Sun is completely irrelevant to me so I can't comment on that lol.
