Dan Girardi

At this point, I could care less about the lefty-righty situation.

If some idiot GM wants to give up a 2C, for example, I can pack his bags for him.

He's been bad today, and I mean ECHL bad, but he was solid in all other playoff games. The Rangers can't afford to lose him due to the lack of depth/experience on the right side of defense.

He has sucked for a year now. The sad thing is his stock was still ridiculously high last off-season and we could have had a great return.

Some Rangers fans are more inclined to trade Staal than Girardi, even before Staal's eye injury, which I never understood. A healthy Staal is more valuable than Girardi.

Girardi played over his head last year when Staal was injured and stepped up when he needed to. But that was really the only time in his career that he has played at such a high level, and I think to expect him to replicate that is a tall order. I highly doubt he'll ever make the All-Star Game again.

good point. Rangers fan have been overvaluing this guy for a long time.

Showing that last year was a fluke.

He has been bad since the Devils series. For a "defensive defenseman'" his defense sure does suck.

Guess he'll be the participant of the "Crocodile Tears" award tonight

Last year, we had Sauer (excluding injury), Staal and Mcdonagh. They did a good job masking Girardi's weakness last year. It really stinks how both of them is out for the playoffs.

Except Girardi was the team's 2nd best defender last season. Like he has been for all years except 2013.

Can someone dig up the 'Who is our best defenseman' thread from the start of the year.
I remember telling people that he is overrated, has always been carried by his partner, and his 'outstanding' shot blocking causes more goals than it prevents

I'll be honest.

The game Girardi had was inexcusable...and I'm still pissed about it.

But....he was tremendous in the Caps series, IMO. I think he'll bounce back.

If it wasnt for his shot blocking, he wouldnt be on this team. LOL

McD, and honestly, Stralman were better. I saw G being drilled and being out of position quite a few times in that Caps series.

Well Stralman is a ****ing beast. He's always good.

Girardi was playing much harder minutes than Stralman in that series and was just as effective. I don't think Stralman would have been able to keep OV to 1g and 1a if he was consistently being matched up with him.

Although the few times they were on the ice together, Stralman did a very nice job.

don't blame Girardi. he didn't trust anything del Zotto did and why would he, the guy has seriously regressed. G trusts Mcdonagh so he's great with him

I honestly think if you put Stralman with McD, you'd get the same results.
