They will sink or swim with their goalies. With Sami and imploding Campbell the goalies have been absolutely porous for half of their six playoff runs. irrespective of the D corps in front of them. Yet sub .900 goaltending has almost gotten them through a first round three times. It shouldn't be a stretch for the two guys they have to manage better than that, so the lack of material changes with the forwards doesn't mean its automatically to be the same result. I don't agree with the absence of real change but I can't say that Berube won't have the players doing things differently in the post season. Hopefully they save some of their best for when it matters.

Woll has played well in the playoffs.
He is a pretty calm goalie in the crease and I have heard forever from goalie coaches how that can actually settle down a group.
I think he is very legit in terms of actual goaltending talent but injuries are the biggest concern.

I think the injury comment is way overblown. I expect that he will play at least 50 games this season.

He’s literally never played 40 games in a season in his entire life lol
And you believe that will be the case for him for the rest of his career? The odds are very high that his injuries have just been random occurrences that will not be repeated every season.

Florida went 25 years without winning a playoff series, two years later they won a cup.

Anyway, my point was that a few of you seem grumpy and it doesn't seem like you have fun being Leafs fans. You certainly don't make it fun for others to be Leafs fans. This response of yours does nothing to change that opinion of mine.
In the last 20 years we've won one series, thanks to a lucky bounce off an opposing player.

I'm constantly entertained by the regular season and regularly disappointed by the playoffs.

At 71, I at least have memories of success, so I feel sorry for the younger fans who don't have them, and hope they will get their turn. Hopefully soon enough that I can enjoy them too.

It’s so apparent that this core can’t get it done, yet the sheep are fine with running it back, year after year. It’s going to be another April full of “I told you so’s…………”
As far as the 'core' goes, thanks to Dubas there is virtually nothing they could do this year except run it back. Next year there's an opportunity, and if they run it back then, we can legitimately call them sheep.

They have zero chance.
It depends on what you're looking for.

The have a very good chance of making the playoffs.

They have a good chance of winning a round (might have last year if not for their two best skaters and best goalie missing games).

They have a small chance of winning a second round.

They have a very small chance of winning the conference, and even a minute chance (but still more than zero) of winning the Cup.

And a very very high chance of being both entertaining and controversial.

In 2021 he was injured in the pre-season., on IR for 3 games, and then missed 2 more in December. Unlucky or fitness/training/genetics? Tre's comment about Wolls injuries seems to suggest they feel the frequency is abnormal but there may be a possible mitigation. Wait and see I guess.

Why do they have a small chance of winning two rounds? The Atlantic will be wide open. Florida is going to drop off by a fair amount given the players they lost in the off-season.

I don't disagree with a word of that. It has been both entertaining and disappointing. It is fun to get excited and even feel optimistic about it but the upcoming season. That has been easier the past eight years than at any time in my life.

The specific adjective isn't important - my point was that we have a smaller and smaller chance of advancing through each round, but that there is never really 'zero' chance.

Based on who the opponent is in each round, it isn't necessarily an even decline in probability, but that's a reasonable generalization.

The flipside is that with each successive round, the odds of winning the Cup increase.

Remember when they said Boston was going to fall off after losing all those good players……….and they still finish ahead of us and beat us in the playoffs

We didn't beat BOS at their most vulnerable last year either, they've added Zadorov and Lindholm since then.

At forward, our group isn't really different at all, not sure how we'll score goals all of a sudden in the playoffs.

They lost their leading goal scorer from the playoffs and their #4/5D.

They added two players who are super overrated but still good.

We will see if they can fill those holes.

I think their team is worse this year, but at best they are slightly better.

We catch Boston yet? Still waiting for that to happen along with the 1000 other predictions you got wrong.

If hockey was played on paper like you think, might as well not even bother with the games.

Boston relied on their goaltending a lot last year and as you saw in round two they weren’t good enough to go to the eastern final.
This year I don’t think Florida will be the beast they were last year and that hurdle won’t be high, so there’s hope they can make the semi-finals.

BOS didn't have enough offensive punch to go beyond where they did, if our our "core 4" actually could remotely step up in the playoffs, we would have won, our special teams / Woll / Samsonov also cost us. By Woll, I mean his bad durability.

I know the talk was last year with Florida going into the season with a lot of injuries on the blueline could be in tough but genuinely this year, I think they could definitely take a step back.

I think Buffalo will be a bit better too.

Seems like the Leafs really do their best work when the division is "wide open".
