but as it stands, they can't be the best players. this isn't like McDrai where when they make the playoffs they dominate and lose because of depth, this team losses because the core 4 can't score and we are scared to blame them fully so pull up depth

I dunno, I think if the team was built right they would be. It's all about team composition to take advantage of your top talent. This team has NEVER done that, certainly not under Dubas and Tre doesn't have the balls it seems to do anything of substance.

This model of spending half the cap one 4-5 players who can’t get it done for almost a decade has to be his opus. I find it hard to believe a brand new GM would come in and insist on making the exact same mistake.

2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 were all years they should've won

I think we might disagree on what it means to take advantage of top talent. We surrounded these guys with tons of different styles. Speed, Skill, Physical, Slow, Intimidating...it doesn't matter they always lose. One of the core 4, two if lucky, play well and then the rest of them shit the bed to even it up. Matthews has his one game, nylander scores his 2 goals, tavares and marner do jack shit and it results in the same stuff\

we are built to score, and are built to have the core 4 score. They can't do that. Anything else is periphary to that main point. They fall short everytime because IMO they just don't have it
