I think if Vegas pulled this out, they would have eliminated the Avs in 6. That said, they looked well below their usual standard versus Dallas. Gonna be a tough summer for their front office. They've painted themselves into a corner with all their cap maneuvers
Whatever. Avs would have won in 5.

When Marchessault hit the post and Johnston scored 10 seconds later in the first, my gut instinct told me that would end up being the difference. And indeed it was.

Cope however you need to little bro

Haha try harder. Just because a hater yells cheater repeatedly doesn't make it truth. I'd be pissed too if my team's management was so inept that did not exploit every possible loophole available within the league rules. We will just let the ring talk my misguided acquaintance.

This was the best pickup of the trade deadline. I don't think the Stars advance without him.

Must of been cause Stone was just coming back from injury. Probably didn’t have enough time to get back to game speed.

My math maybe slightly off but I have the 20 players dressed total salary at 84.509 vs 83.5 cap
Think that excuse worked better last year when more than 3/4 of the cap overage people kept crying about came from two goalies that didn't play a single minute of playoff hockey and Lehner didn't even dress once during the regular season either. And I haven't seen it come up but in case someone wanted to argue that Vegas still got a benefit from Quick winning some games down the stretch, that is exactly what LTIR cap relief is for. Vegas' starter and backup were out with injury and I'm pretty sure their third string was out for a little while too.

The only thing I'd say in Vegas' defense this year is Stone and Hertl were not good and Mantha lost Cassidy's trust before the playoffs even started and he didn't play. But still, loading up on that many roster players with cap relief felt cheap.

Last night's 20 man roster was at 85.1M. It's true that's not too bad. Basically equivalent to a cap team taking advantage of accrued trade deadline cap space.

But that's also with two NHL regulars Hague and Mantha on the sidelines who had a combined cap hit of 5.1M. Add Dorofeyev (0.5PPG this year) who the Knights would never waive for additional 850K to round out a 23 man roster of NHL players and thats a 91M roster if using regular season rules as a template.

Can't just ignore the depth that was their biggest strength due to the cap.

They even got 2 teams to retain on Hanifin making his cap hit a measly 1.2M, next year it will be 7.3M.

It's an opportunity missed for Vegas, but I'm glad Dallas got it done.

People need to stop blaming Vegas for how they’ve utilized LTIR.

It’s beyond foolish. Tampa did it to. Rangers as well once Chytil is activated. If you have an issue, blame the league, not the teams that operate within the rules.

Happy to see Dallas advance. If there’s 1 team I’d like to see win the cup other than my Rangers, it’s the Stars.

There is a valid point and reasons to be mad

Everyone knew Stone wasn’t too injured to play in game 82 he was too expensive to play

& being too expensive isn’t the reason why players should be put on ltir. It’s for players with legit injuries and who are too injured to play.

& with Stone you don’t go from too injured to play in game 82 to playing 19mins in game 1 as a forward

Chytil still hasn’t played so that’s not even close to being the same, no one would be mad if Stone was able to return later, but ”surprisingly” he was playing on game 1, as everyone knew he would

Edit, & like clockwork this keeps happening with Stone, every february he goes on ltir

Great for Pete and Nas! Can't help thinking they're not missing New Jersey.

Another choke by Mr Huff N Puff Stick O’ Gum himself.

Congrats Dallas!

Maybe you can explain. How exactly is a 2-1 loss in Game 7 to the top ranked team considered "a choke"?
