Wyatt Johnston early favourite for the Conn Smythe. Leads the team with 7pts while playing on the 3rd line. He should be on the Stars #1 PP unit, he’s just too good.
Dallas has only 3 candidates…Otter, Heiskanen and Johnston. Otter and Heiskanen were meh so far compared to Johnston.

But now I have a real moral quandry. My brothers teams are the stars and the avs.... so neither of them can win, before Vegas I was a flames fan, so neither the nucks or oilers can win. Need a secret 5th team to come in and out of the West
Well, the Oilers own the Flames so you’re technically already in the Oilers side.

He’s been great but it doesn’t matter what line he’s on imo. His stats are good but not Swayman/Mcdavid/Makar good. Not at conn smyth level yet imo, although he’s been impressive!

We're probably going to hang around the bubble for a good long while but not be quite bad enough to start stockpiling high picks. Gonna be a painful middling period I expect. Don't really see how the McGMs can get this team back to cup contention.

Stone is broken, Pietrangelo will be 35 next year, Martinez is probably gone, Marchessault is probably gone, Hague and Whitecloud look like they've declined. At least these guys got the city one and they can individually hang their hat on that, but yeah, it's going to be rough sledding for a good long while. They have to actually start focusing on drafting and development.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the fans. Glad to see the team succeed and hopefully cement itself in a new market.

Just not a fan of thr cap shenanigans. Wish the league would make some changes for it.

The Conn Smythe goes to a member of the winning team 99% of the time.
McDavid or Makar don‘t get it either, if they don‘t win the cup.

Gotcha, thought you meant overall leader but you meant in terms of stars I suppose.

Edit: I see I quoted wrongly as well, adding to the confusion. Seanmoneyhands is who I meant to quote originally.

I wasn't either. At least this year. Last year, whatever. Barbashev was making like 2m. Quick didn't play and Blueger barely played. His two points weren't some scorching advantage.

But this year adding a guy like Hanifin and Hertl is too much to just scoff at. Mantha was pretty much just a warm body that Cassidy didn't trust to use in the playoffs and Hertl wasn't great in the postseason, and Stone sucked, but still. It was all way over the top.

I've said a number of times I didn't mind losing. Would be less of a moral quandary, just wish they had played with more life to at least make the shenanigans worth something and give the fans something entertaining before the team starts seriously declining.

Switched this off before handshakes for the Tom Brady Roast. With a newborn, the saving grace of this is I'll save a shit ton of money on playoff tickets. Series came down to mistakes, VGK had a few too many. Congrats to Dallas.

Preach. Just going to two games last year with a guest both times was a heavy financial hit. Though nobody put a gun to my head and made me buy lower bowl seats for what I thought/hoped would be a conference championship clinching home game.

I thought Oettinger made many key saves and timely ones when needed, and I also thought Heiskanen was great. His Dzone play was really good, broke up so many plays with his stick work and started lots of offensive transition plays.

Back to Oettinger, he let in one goal after the second period in the 7 game series. That's pretty good!

Honestly the series made me feel better about the circumvention, because bringing Stone back turned out to not be much of an advantage. He's clearly still injured, was a liability at 5-on-5 and probably should have been scratched regardless.

Vegas forwards as a whole didn't look great this series. They looked a little sluggish, and the chemistry in the top 6 seemed off. It probably didn't help that Cassidy went for the line blender a few times; just because it worked for Dallas in this series didn't mean it would work for Vegas too.

I know its wrong but Im more happy Dallas knocked out Vegas than I am my own team making it through to the second round. What Vegas is doing with the salary cap is against the spirit of the game.
