A huge opportunity to close out Dallas Sunday night without a winner take all affair Tuesday. A chance to get some much needed rest before the Final starts as well.

The PP has awoken, the substitutions are contributing, the new look lines are independently efficient, the D is solid, the PK has yet to be penetrated, goaltending has steadied, the coaching is calmly purposeful, the tactics are effective and Rogers will be absolutely insane.

The time is now.

Close out the Stars Sunday night and send them back into the Dallas night sky.

Also I don’t want to see Glassbanger guys belly in Dallas anymore so that’s reason enough to end this.

Raise your hand if you raised your eyebrows and doubted this man’s appointment to defensive coach back in November.

The Oilers have been on a mission since McDavid call the players back early. McDavid and Draisaitl will rise to new heights with this opportunity in front of them. Go Oilers go.

On a side note. I heard RNH is starting a hockey school in the summer. The first to sign up was Matthews. He wants to learn how to play playoff style hockey. :sarcasm::nod:

I disliked Coffey before because he abandoned Edmonton for decades and other than his Pens playing days he never came back even to visit. I suspected he was just another red wine room hanger on once the new arena got bult but was wrong on that.

I suspected he could be a decent D whisperer. I was all in on KK for the primary reason we needed a coaching reset. woody and manson we're not going to get us to the party. To me that seemed clear. KK has been as good as can be expected as well as Coffey.

Coffey has proved to be a better alumni as well and here for the right reasons, not just to hang around but to earnestly help the club. out of all the past Oilers which ones have really rolled up the elbows to make this group better, to get it to the dance?

Any thoughts on trying this bottom 6 at some point? Carick didn't have a great game 5. Can our PK afford to not have Ryan/Carrick?

I think Foegele should get another chance and maybe he comes back with a chip on his shoulder.

Carrick is up and down. He started strong when he first arrived, but kind of faded. Ryan is really small and it is painful to watch how he tries to reach for the puck.

I’ve been really, really impressed with Broberg’s game towards the end of the season and especially the last two games. And I say that as someone who was convinced he was a bust up to that point.

I have a hard time imagining VD is going to get back in the lineup barring injury with the way the D looks right now

If we beat the Stars I can see him drawing in against Florida (If they also win). They are an aggressive team and there will be issues.

Score first, score often. Pressure is a privilege... take the energy of the crowd and ride it to victory.

Nurse and Skinner are coming off their two best games of the entire playoffs, let's hope for more of the same from both on Sunday.

And it's time. McDavid is going to explode for 4 points and leave no doubt. This is his moment.

The Oil got this. They got the Stars number. The defensive stats don't lie. Edmonton D has nullified the Stars system completely, much like it did against Nucks and Kings. Florida will be the ultimate test. They play hard and aggressive and have world class defensive forwards. I suspect that will be 6 or 7 game series full of 2-1 scores. Canada hasn't had a chance this realistic in decades.

Got a summary? I'm pay walled.

Foegele is an absolute 0 at this point. Not good offensively, not good defensively. Swap Perry for Gagner if he's banged up.

Need to seize this opportunity. They have been a better road team this playoffs. Do not want a coin flip game 7 on the road
I think this version of the OIlers will have a lot of insight on not to blow this opportunity. But its hard to know. Usually we'd been down headed into a game 6 and for instance with Van and LA 22. or Vegas last year.

Really important to wrap this at home. You never know.

This game six feels important. Maybe not 'must win' but close to it. Really don't want to give the Stars any reason to believe in themselves headed back to Dallas for a game seven. Also, I expect Florida/NY to go seven so the extra rest next week could be key.

Be great to have another effort like game five. Get on them early and don't give them a chance to get into it. I fully expect some Bettman officiating too with a southern US team on the brink of elimination so that I hope that PK holds up.

Dallas is still a scary team. They were in tough at points in both their previous series and came roaring back. Going to be a real challenge.

Game 6 will see the Stars best effort to date, much like our game 6 last series. Always need to be fearful of a wounded animal. Having said that I have full confidence that our boys will match their effort and intensity and wrap it up at home. Should be a heck of a game.
