Despite our record this team just inspires 0 confidence lately with anything less than a 3-goal lead... opponent doesn't matter. They're rarely out of it, but they're just "off" so often that it's a crapshoot from minute to minute

I am so glad to have Trocheck back but anytime a major shift to the lines or re-entry back into the line up occurs...seems to take us a few games to get it back together.

Am I alone in thinking Jake Bean has regressed, like a lot, over the past few games?

That 3rd pair and Svechnikov with his head up his butt are things they need to fix. I don’t expect it, but it’d be nice if they pulled off a big hockey trade or 2.

I mean Fleury f***ed up I think 4 times in a row on that last goal so I’m not sure what Bean has to do with that?

Regressed or being given more defensive responsibilities and being exposed? I think it is the later. Rod can’t protect him as much. Also, teams are figuring out they can go into his chest and he folds like a cheap suit.

Watching the game live, I was hard pressed to remember 5 good Canes chances. Everything was from the outside...it was a very Bill Peters-ish 3-2 loss with a lopsided shot count in favor of the Canes.
Past few games have been like that, lots of volume but little quality

Also, remember when we were debating which of Skjei/Fleury/Bean we would protect/lose @ ED and that we'd be "fine" with whoever was left? At this point I protect Skjei no questions, I imagine Bean would go ED since he's younger and has the higher ceiling, Fleury I can't see being worth protecting or taking based on his regression this year.

that’s Dallas’ game to a t. Since Bowness took over they have been ok giving up high quantity shots from the point because they usually limit the high danger chances.

cant say it’s my favorite brand of hockey, but it’s how my big dumb team has embraced the game, so I have no choice.

Svechnikov looked energized in the last couple of changes after he was put to play with Aho. The defense was able to keep them outside, but the effort certainly was there. Same feeling about the 3rd pair.

To me, this is more playoff style hockey. Clog the neutral zone, keep the opponent to the outside and make them work to get to the net and refs swallowing their whistles. Canes have been feasting on the PP and in OT/SO, but are a middle of the pack team when it comes to 5v5 scoring.

Teams like Dallas and Chicago have much more on the line right now, so they are, IMO, playing this style as points matter to them a lot more than the Canes. I'd rather see the Canes have to face this now, vs. cruising to the playoffs and then have to to figure it out then. They need to figure out how to win games like this now or they won't go anywhere in the playoffs, so to me, this isn't a bad thing seeing them struggle with it right now as I'd rather that than in the playoffs. Of course, they need to learn from it and adjust or it won't help.

I think this is right, and I think they will adjust.

That's what she said to me too.
There was recently a news article on the web about a classical bar slash music venue closing its doors for good because of the corona situation.

A commenter said: "This is where I met my wife thirty years ago, and have been together ever since."

I feel stupid for still laughing at the next commenter: "This is where I met your wife too three years back, but our time together didn't last very long."
