But trending somewhat downwards. There are 9 teams with at least 50 points, you can make an argument that all nine are top 5 so being top 5 means very little IMO.This team is still one of the top five teams in the NHL.

Despite our record this team just inspires 0 confidence lately with anything less than a 3-goal lead... opponent doesn't matter. They're rarely out of it, but they're just "off" so often that it's a crapshoot from minute to minute

All that matters is that they make the playoffs. After that anything can happen.
Am I alone in thinking Jake Bean has regressed, like a lot, over the past few games?
That 3rd pair and Svechnikov with his head up his butt are things they need to fix. I don’t expect it, but it’d be nice if they pulled off a big hockey trade or 2.
Regressed or being given more defensive responsibilities and being exposed? I think it is the later. Rod can’t protect him as much. Also, teams are figuring out they can go into his chest and he folds like a cheap suit.Am I alone in thinking Jake Bean has regressed, like a lot, over the past few games?

Worst shouldn't mean bad. Tonight the 3rd pairing was bad by anyone's standard. Our 3rd pair will probably always be our worst. We seem to like playing our younger players with each other as opposed to what many teams do by having a vet, youth pair.
Past few games have been like that, lots of volume but little qualityWatching the game live, I was hard pressed to remember 5 good Canes chances. Everything was from the outside...it was a very Bill Peters-ish 3-2 loss with a lopsided shot count in favor of the Canes.

That's what my ex wife said........3 inches make all the difference.

To me, this is more playoff style hockey. Clog the neutral zone, keep the opponent to the outside and make them work to get to the net and refs swallowing their whistles. Canes have been feasting on the PP and in OT/SO, but are a middle of the pack team when it comes to 5v5 scoring.
Teams like Dallas and Chicago have much more on the line right now, so they are, IMO, playing this style as points matter to them a lot more than the Canes. I'd rather see the Canes have to face this now, vs. cruising to the playoffs and then have to to figure it out then. They need to figure out how to win games like this now or they won't go anywhere in the playoffs, so to me, this isn't a bad thing seeing them struggle with it right now as I'd rather that than in the playoffs. Of course, they need to learn from it and adjust or it won't help.
There was recently a news article on the web about a classical bar slash music venue closing its doors for good because of the corona situation. That's what she said to me too.

I feel stupid for still laughing at the next commenter: "This is where I met your wife too three years back, but our time together didn't last very long."
