LeBrun: Dallas and Minnesota interested in Brock Nelson

I'd still love Nelson on this team but not at the expense or replacing Rossi, if that's a choice we have to make. We should have extended Rossi before the season started. Now he's going to cost significantly more than he would have. Not sure what kind of discount Nelson would accept for re-signing but I mostly think that's BS anyway.
Not sure what Rossi has to do with Nelson at all. Nelson is looking like a 3C faceoff specialist at the moment.

If they trade Rossi they'd have to get a C from somewhere just to keep things running until that russian decides to come over and a middle six C is probably the stopgap they'd look for if Rossi was traded for a package that didn't include a near replacement C (unlikely because why trade him, then).

They're not trading Rossi.

I wouldn't pay a 2nd+prospect for him. He's at the age where his play is at the cliff's edge. If you can sucker some team into a 1st, I feel sorry for that team.
It’s a rental, you’re acting like a 3-4 year contract is to follow with the expectations he’s gonna hit 30 goals per.

Agree. As a Stars fan, and their forward group starting to run, I hope if our GM Nill uses his assets it’ll be for another solid D-man; a Tanev type of trade like last season.

He spends his offseasons training in MN. I remember an offseason story he was skating a lot in a group with Kaprizov. Hes very much a MN hockey guy which is prob why Russo is so bullish on him ending up in MN one way or the other.
When did Russo turn into Sid Hartman? That old guy believed that every MN boy needed to play on the home teams.

can someone set it straight in terms of Rossi and Wild management having a conflict or not ? And if there is one - what is it ? I think its the reason why Isles fans put him into trade proposals for Brock .

yeah I get it - your not trading a player under control like Rossi for a rental.

until it actually happens .

Rossi isn't available and that has been made clear. There's zero chance it's happening. Bill Guerin has came out and shut it down. it's why he has been taken down from trade target boards. Lol Wild aren't trading HIm, and were never going to for a Rental

To me he will fit better with Minesotta
Except the pieces from Minnesota that seem to be available on here are the equivalent of a cap dump return. A mediocre prospect who might top out as a 3rd liner/bottom pairing defenseman and a mid round pick just don’t work for the Isles.

Islanders fans seem to think a team needs to pay for his last 3 years of 30 goal production, not the player they are getting currently.

Not happening.
In all seriousness....I think it's probably around 75% if he's dealt hes going to the Wild. I think Dallas is out. I think the other 25% is Winnipeg.

I agree, no way in hell Rossi is going anyway. But if Guerin wants him, and he does really like Nelson. He will pay probably more then you guys want - again not Rossi.

Understandably that both Minnie and Dallas would be good destinations. I could possibly see Utah and LA sniff around as well. Lou needs to sell to the highest bidder.

I don’t know why you are saying Rossi in your post at all. Obviously, Rossi is way more valuable than Nelson.

Guerin has traded a 1st for a player once in his tenure with Minnesota. That was this year for a 21 year old recent top 10 pick. You’ll be lucky to get a 2nd alone with Guerin’s track record (3rd for Johansson, 4th+meh pieces for Klingberg, 4th for Sundqvist, 5th for Nyquist). 3rd rounder might be the first and last offer from Guerin lol

Would not doubt Nelson goes on a heater soon and ends up at 30 plus for the year

Last 200 games (approx): Matt Tkachuk games played: 196 goals 80, JT Miller 192 games played 77 goals, Nico Hischier games played: 196 and 77 goals, and your Boy Boldy: 198 games played and 75 goals. Drum roll: Brock Nelson on the anemic NYI comes in at: 205 games (durable!) and 81 goals. Yes, brother someone will give up a first plus last three seasons he popped in 37, 38 and 34, so typically very consistent and durable.
To top that off, the guy played in a low octane NYI squad as well. Someone may get a heck of a player by giving up a first plus.

perhaps not Billy but someone will brother

I suspect that if we were interested in Marco Rossi, we should forget he has 2 more NHL goals in his career of 145 games than Nelson had last year alone . . . Nelson is considered the #1 target for the deadline by at least one major TSN columnist, so if you think he's available for a 2nd and your 23rd rated prospect, good luck with that!

Mmm, well then, that one guy clearly dictates the entire market for trades. 😆

Good luck with the oversell.
