Waived, cleared, NOT re-assigned, and told not to bother traveling with the team for Saturday's game. Rumor has it Fletcher is trying to find a trade partner for him. One year remaining on his deal at 2.3 million.

Willing to take back an expiring contract someone really wants to get rid of, along with a 5th round pick for Weise and a 7th round pick. Any takers :D

I don't think there is gonna many GM's lining up unless they can dump a worse contract on the Flyers.

Sounds like he was told to go home because he’s not an NHL player. He was told to stay away from the AHL because he’s not good for young players to be around.

Seriously? What do you think the value of a guy who passed through waivers and basically got his equipment taken away should be? Why would you make a trade for this guy when literally any AHL player would do at least the same thing a) for less money and b) not cost you anything in trade? Im just curious as to what you think the value should be for this.

Seriously, learn to read. I said Weise for someone else's bad contract (expiring) with a late round pick swap either way. You act as if I am trying to get something of legitimate value for him. Players get waived, clear, and soon after get traded in similar deals fairly frequently.

It's not a hard contract to get rid of, and he can already be assigned to the AHL for now.

With a cap dump, or retained salary, some team should take a chance on him for a 6th and a prospect.

I was thinking about the retained salary thing too. The Spooner deal suggested above doesn't sound bad at all in there's some retention.

I would prefer to take back an expiring contract but the suggested deal around Spooner and Weise wasn't too bad. I wouldn't do it but it's close. Perhaps make that part of a bigger deal involving Simmonds.

Flyers get:
First round pick
Cam Talbot
Ryan Spooner (retained at 2.3 million)

Oilers get:
Wayne Simmonds
Dale Weise

Either that or I would do Weise and a 5th for Spooner retained and a 3rd.

What You don't normally see is after clearing waivers, the guy is told not to travel with the ream or report to the minor league affiliate. That tells me that his attitude is worse than his game. Clean out your locker and have a nice life, just don't do it here. There is no "value of" in this case. No swap of conditional 7ths or whatever crap is going to make it worth it.

A few games ago, announcers for the Flyers were ripping Weise when they thought their mics were off.

Just hoping we don't get back a guy with more cap hit or term.

There has been no indication that he's been a problem in the locker room. He's even been a mentor for Nolan Patrick.

I guess Fletcher is that bad of a GM then. He'll be assigned to the AHL if nothing can get done at the NHL level. Why send a guy down, take the spot of a young guy developing, just to be shipped out within a few days? I feel like its more out of respect to Weiss than anything else.

Charged with purchasing $800 worth of Coke. Get it right.
My bad....I have not bothered to read up on his exact charges.

Point remains, I don't think there is any office issue with Weise causing him to be left at home, when you have another guy being charged still on the team.

I 100% think it's just because Fletch knows the deal will be done very soon.

I suppose I'll pull this from the other thread.

Weise isn't traveling with the Flyers or Phantoms because Fletcher is working out a deal, and they don't want him getting injured in the meantime. No attitude issue involved.

If Philly was willing to give up roster spots, the Marlies have a looming roster crunch with people getting healthy.

Loverde
Jooris
Subban
Kaskisuo

For:

Weise

-All except Kaskisuo done after this year. Leafs assume full cap hit. Marlies would still have:

Rosen-Liljegren
Borgman-Olesky
Sandin-Corrado
Leblanc-Jardine

Trades for players who've passed through waivers happen fairly frequently. Happened a few times last year if I recall correctly.
