I think MB will not want to gamble too much on his ability to continue that scoring pace with a longer term deal for more..Also I believe that Dale wants to stay on the habs and loves the chance he was given and wont want to move to another team..

Also his dad would not approve of him signing with another team..:yo:

I can't imagine him pushing for too much. He is a consulate team guy. Also, if he gets 30, it will be viewed as an aberration. He is getting easier match ups and benefitting from a strong team. Still, he deserves a raise.

It's almost unthinkable to imagine Weise producing and being paid like a real top-six forward. Realistically, Weise can't get hotter than he is now, so Bergevin will obviously wait awhile before opening negotiations. And if he stays hot and finishes with over 20 goals? Hmmm... trying to imagine how we'd be drooling over a 20+ goal scorer with youth and size if he played for any other team.

Depends on his stat line at the end of the year as well as how much term he'll be getting. I'm thinking they sign him for 3 years at 2.5M but I really don't know because of the many things playing into it.

At this point I dont see him scoring less than 20 for sure..I think with the way his line is playing and the way they score he can get 30 if he keeps up the work ethic...He shoots a lot and is always winning battles and getting in position for a shot...plus davey is consistant with his ability to get the puck to his linemates.

The poll is for a 30 goal season term is 3-4 yrs

Man, do I ever hope you're right. Everything you say is true -- his work ethic, the chemistry with DD and Flash, his shooting. But it's almost unthinkable for a veteran player to go from a career high 10 goals all the way to 30. I won't buy Weise being a 30-goal forward until I see him with 20 before March.

Sure, that's true. He's also very lucky. Fleischmann completely misses a deke and the puck finds its way to Weise who has an easy tap in, goal. He screws up his shot, somehow that tricks the goalie, goal. He doesn't time the one timer well, puck hits his knee, goal.
All this and he's still missed a couple of empty netters.
So, ya, he battles hard and puts himself in those good positions, but I can't believe this is sustainable. I expect him to drop, but I certainly hope it continues and follows through in the POs too.

is on pace for 'more'
:D

Crosby must be "on pace" for about 14 goals, maybe we should try trading Weise for him. Sell high as they say. :sarcasm:

Topic related, if he actually scores 30 that's Clarkson territory, though I trust Bergevin not to make that mistake.

Just because pace doesn't mean everything doesn't also mean that it means nothing.

Pace has a very specific meaning with a well-quantified error that can be understood from a freshmen college class.

I don't think he'll score 30, but he might be this summer's Beleskey. Hopefully he re-signs with us on a discount, though.

1) Weise wants to be a Hab.

2) Bergevin won't take a long-term gamble

I think Weise scores anywhere from 20-24 goals this season; probably something like $2.25 X 3 or $2.6 X2.

He's a third liner, and if Brandon Prust can make $2.5m on a 4 year contract, Weise can make $2.5m on a 2-3 year contract.

If David Clarkson can make whatever it is he's making, Weise can make $2.5m.

Weise was a 4th liner who's legitimately become a 3rd liner and is currently scoring like an elite 1st liner.
