Since "I'm gonna f@cking kill you next year" :

Lucic - 20 goals @ $6mil

Weise - 20 goals (2 in playoffs) @ $750k

This is incredible. Thanks for pointing it out!

I've said it the night right after that game 7: Lucic broke something there. Psychologically, he suffered a breakdown of some sort. He was almost crying during the post-game interview.

I remember being mad that we sort of 'gave up' on him. A big L-O-L to me. The pros know what they are doing. Bergevin and his team seem to have a keen eye to target players whose value is down because of poor context. Weise, Petry, Flash etc.

I think a lot of fans overrated Diaz and didn't realize just how bad our D personnel was.

I always thought Diaz would be a solid NHL d-man if he was in the right situation. He's always seem to be stuck on teams that had depth on D or teams where didn't get an extended look.

His problem he doesn't have one really good quality. He's not offensive, he's not a defensive force and on top of that he's easy to knock off the puck. Unfortunately there is no place for guys like that in todays nhl. It sucks for him because he is a better hockey player than guys like Gorges or even Emelin for example in terms of passing/shooting/skating, but it takes more than that.

Happy for Weise. He's really found a home with the Habs after being mishandled by Torts. Sometimes players and coaches just do not mesh well for some reason and a fresh start is needed for the player. I feel that Eller and MT are in the same boat with the Habs right now unfortunately.

Diaz is soooooooo behind Emelin in every aspect of the game. He is in fact not even close to Gorges and Gorges might be, in my opinion, one of the worst player in the NHL.

Diaz was atrocious. I never understood the love he had and how people could see a top 4 dman in him.

This being said, the habs won this trade since day one and it's getting way better with the time.

Dale Weise is the pure definition of characther (you know the things Therrien and Bergevin talk about a lot here).

Props to weise, i hope he'll have a nice contract with some bids. I could see a 4yrs at 3.5M

He is a useful player... but Eller missing large amounts of hockey talent. (shot, set-ups, hockey timing and uncanny abilities)

Its little to do with MT, at this point, imo.

Anyway, this is about Weise... and he is kickin' it.

The downside here is DW may no longer fit in the Hab salary structure by year's end.

Drop someone less worthy to make room for hmi. Bergevin wouldn't let Weise walk for nothing in return but cap space. Remember his dance when Weise scored against TB?

Remember Petri ? He was a rental. He was the most anticipated free agent signing in July in a Defence hungry NHL. There were plenty of teams willing to offer him a top pairing spot (unlike Montreal). He choose to sign with us, at a reasonable price (he named the coaching as one of the main reasons btw.)

I'm not worried about Weise signing here - he will do it (should we want to keep him, that is) and he will take the local discount too. Bergevin has a history of good signings.

The only question - what will be his McDo special.

Unless he puts up 25 goals, I don't see him getting a huge raise.

Say he finishes with 35 points(15-20-35), that might get him 3 years and 6 mil. Gilbert is moving on this year, so that frees up around 2 mil. DW was already making 1.025 AAV.

DSP with a fan

Burrows is a Habs fan iirc, Perron is a Habs fan, apparently Perry is a Habs fan (someone on reddit claimed he's a huge fan), Higgins is a Habs fan. I imagine a lot of the Quebecois players were Habs fans growing up.

Love those old photos. :handclap:

Colby Armstrong and Brent Sopel both lived the dream of playing for the Habs.

There are quite a few Nords fans players from Quebec.

Whats it gonna cost to sign Dale Weise?

If weise continues to have a career year, and gets 30 goals what do you think it will cost to sign him?

On a side note, since he is busting out like this do we think he can keep it up for the following years to come? let alone the rest of this season?

Lets assume for this poll that its a 3-4 year term deal as i Believe that is most likely if resigned here...If he tests free agency that will be a different poll all together.
