Great bottom 6er during the regular season, and he elevates his game during the playoffs.

He has rocks for hands and a below average shot, but his speed, size, and decent hockey sense get him in position to tap in rebounds and one timers, which is really all you can ask for from a 4th liner offensively.

I guess you missed last year's playoffs where his hands, and shot, were the exact opposite of what you just said. How about his OT goal against Tampa, or his penalty shot in Nov?

Where would we have been last year without his performance in the playoffs? Honestly, do some of you even watch the team play? He actually has really decent hands.

No he really doesn't. There are, like, 2 or 3 examples of him making a move or two in open ice that Jody Shelley probably could have pulled off, and they don't outweigh what's readily obvious from watching him play the rest of the time.

Yet he has 2 less points than the Sekac, the legend.. all with hands like Jody Shelley.

Dale Weise is the type of player that helps teams win tough playoff rounds. OT winner against Tampa, scored the games first goal in game 7 against Boston. You win with players like Dale Weise.

In two more games, but yeah, I think they've spent almost the same amount of time in the top 6 at this point... He can thank Pacioretty for being the goal scorer he is, and Galchenyuk for being the playmaker he is. I mean, it takes hands to score (two of them, for the most part), and Weise has them attached to the end of his wrists like everyone else, but some of the player descriptions/skill evaluations you get around here are loltastic.

Lets see how he does without the playoff great Danny Briere ;)

Galch, Patch and BGal are the only Habs players with more points/60 than Weise so if he has rocks for hands what does that say about the rest of the roster? link

Yes and John Scott is a sniper.

I mention that he's a guy that elevates his game in the playoffs and I acknowledge that he had his clutch moments in the playoffs, especially vs Tampa and Boston. But don't kid yourself, he does not have decent hands lol. He gets whatever points he has due to his decent hockey sense and his speed.

The only regular with worse possession numbers than Weise is the great Manny Malhotra. What does that say about Dale?

He's a solid 4th liner that can (hopefully not too often) fill in on the 3rd line. Nothing more, nothing less.

His goals have shown he has 'decent' hands around the net. Do you want him to do a Briere celebration so everyone knows about it?

He has shown the ability to elevate his game in big games. Also, for a 4th line type of player, he's shown some ability to dish the puck, and chip in the odd goal.

I guess it all depends on your expectations of him, but I've been pleasantly surprised since he's arrived from Vancouver.

Glad some here have seen that Weise can show that he has good hands, a good shot, and can make some good passes (Weise demonstrated this especially in playoffs...Weise is a playoff warrior).

Yes he's not HOT-Weise right now...but when he gets HOT (ex: playoffs)...he's an amazing top 9 power forward/playoffs warrior (and not just a gritty 4th liner), and we urgently need more power forwards (imo, we need to replace the loss of Rene Bourque for his playoff goals).

Speed (very fast), size/height, heart, energy, playoffs warrior, underrated shot, underrated passing, underrated hockey sense.

Huge Weise fan.

Love him for our 4th line, but he (imo) can certainly fill in on the 3rd and even 2nd line (in case of injuries). In playoffs...I have no problem with Weise playing on the 3rd line. He can even energize a 1st or 2nd line sometimes if a top 9 forward is slacking off. Weise can sometimes add energy/speed/grit/heart to that top 9 line.

Go Weise Go!! (I'd take another Weise anyday!!).

my thinking as well, not saying he played badly, but how many 4th line wingers play with a C who can bring as much offensive skills (although diminishing, DB still has 10X the O. skills of a 4th liner)

Orpik should be ****in' embarrassed there. Let's Scott get a lane to the net, get a shot, hammers his own goalie and goes after Andrew D and then gets shoved like a child into the boards.

sweet Jesus I can't believe people are slagging off Dutch Gretzky.

Dude's an amazing bottom 6er. And yes he has 'decent' hands. People are acting like decent means Datsyuk or something.

The times I've seen him fill in in the top 6, I thought he did fine.

An amazing trade by MB.

Yep, all 20 (in 200+ games, no less) of his career goals show "decent" hands.

You can have good hands in the NHL, and not produce. Do you understand why? It's because he doesn't have a deadly shot, an overly accurate shot. Here's a hint, most guys in the NHL have great hands, but only a few have 'great shots'.

Have you ever tried receiving a deadly hard pass in a game? It's amazingly hard to do. I can appreciate anyone who can cradle a really hard pass, it's a skill that you can't appreciate unless you play the game, or have played the game at any level.

Weise isn't a sniper, I never claimed he was. I think he has decent hands, and hockey sense. He was a great pickup, and he's a nice addition to the team.

easy there, bottom 6ers also include 3rd liners... and he sure is not an amazing 3rd liner...

I definitely prefer Dale Weise to Raphael Diaz. I think the success of this trade makes the stats guys who were pumping Diaz last year look bad.

Weise is the exact reason why I'm not a GM, I was so pissed that we traded Diaz for him but he won me over with time.

Anyway, Weise has good hands for a grinder, not sure what people in this thread are talking about. He's done some pretty sick plays/passes with the Habs and his pass last night is an example that he doesn't have hands of stone. In terms of skillset he's similar to Lapierre.
