Weise is on pace for 20 goals and is a proven playoff performer.

Winnik fetched a 2nd a 4th last season. We'll probably get the same kind of deal.

We need to be wary about using last year's trades as a template for this year -- the impending lowering of the cap will change the way teams are dealing, as more value is placed on futures.

Agreed. The value is definitely there for a team in contention. The issue will be getting the 2nd rounder this year. Many of the teams rumoured to be in on Weise (Ana, Pit), don't have their 2nd. And rumour also has it teams are loathe to give up picks this year because the draft is so good.

Teams are insisting on future 2nds.

I think it's better to obtain a 2017 2nd rounder that can be used next year to buy a rental for the playoffs without using our own 2017 picks.

Hearing Dale Weise is a little under the weather tonight and not playing. To my knowledge, not traded. But, as always, we will see.

While many remark Weise is not out for pre game skate, I am in media lounge where Poile & MB wrapped up a meeting. #ProbMeansZip #JustSayin

Dale Weise: "I'm not going to lie, I know there's a good chance I'll get sick."

So we're happy we're trading our best power forward?

Eller didn't get much of a chance but maybe. DSP scored two in a game he played top line right? hehe

Seriously I'm not saying Weise is an all star but are there many other Habs forwards who are more power forward-y?

None of them. We don't have a power forward. Dale Weise is a grinder.

Well he's a grinder who's scored almost half his career goal total so far this season so he's probably being pitched as a semi-power-forward. He has good hands and great speed and some size on a small team so I kinda like him as a Hab and hope we keep him at a good price or get him back this summer.

If we can get a 2nd for him, it would be epic... still remember when we got him and we all said a collective "who ?". Hope they trade him and get good assets.

The Leafs got 3 2nds for Matthias, Polak and Spaling.......hardly epic to get a 2nd for a superior player in Weise. I want to see two 2nds

At least he can't get injured. With him being "sick", I wonder if we've seen the last of him in a Habs jersey.

So having a career year turns him into a power forward when his past seasons have proved him to be a 3rd line RW? I am guessing Matt Belesky is a power forward too?

Weise is a solid 3rd line winger but let's not over hype him and claim he's something he is not.

Well, people want to trade Weise and Emelin and my negative reaction in both cases is mostly about the negatives in losing the bit of size and physicality we have in our roster. Those two are also good with the puck, again imo Weise has size, hands and speed... Anyway I like Weise.
