Canucks weren't going to sign him. The stupidity - on both ends - is that he wasn't traded to Dallas at the deadline. Canucks could use whatever they would have got, and Dallas clearly needed him in the playoffs.

So Hamhuis refused to waive is the story we hear all the time, then signs with said team at a lower rate. I am no longer a Hamhuis defender, but I wish Dallas well.

No this is not the story we hear all the time. Hamhuis agreed to waive and said so in a press conference after the deadline.
