Proposal: Dach to Pittsburgh

Yeah, I would say with all the picks they have in 2025 combined with their deep prospect pool, picks outside premium 1st rounders aren’t that interesting to an organization well on its way to turning prospect depth into winning.

But…as you allude to…Dach may not be appealing to that team you are trying to get a 2C from. But liquidating him into generic pick capital could be part of the equation. Either using the picks in that “other” deal or as a way to recoup some of the prospect/pick capital you lose in the 2C deal.
Yup. I was also thinking a 2nd rounder might refill the cupboard if a couple of firsts and a 2nd go to getting that 2C.

To Montreal: 2025 2nd round pick (WAS)
To Pittsburgh: Dach

Montreal gets some additional cap space to add a legit 2nd line center plus a futures asset, and the Pens take a flier on a former high draft pick who's been a band-aid since being drafted.

No thanks.

While Dach's knee injuries have undoubtedly reduced his value and made it more unlikely he'll reach his potential, he's still worth more than a late 2nd to the Habs...

Plus, with the prospect pool and draft capital Mtl has, the last thing they need right now is another pick in this draft.

Dach is still young, all he need is proper linemate and health

He was showing good potential when he was playing with Suzuki on the 1st line, now with Demidov let's see what he can do before trading him I would say

So many want to give him another chance, I just don't see it anymore. When he was replaced with still AHLer Beck, the team improved. Whole I like Beck, when you are readily replaced with a kid, it says the high end NHL potential of a guy is limited.
This team needs to move on from guys like Dach and Laine, and add either high end talent or hard working guys. Not keeping fairly talented guys surfing on being top 3 picks years ago. (Note this could apply to Drouin, as well)

They can move on next season after they prove out he is not it.

did you bother to check their contracts?

posters need to add a in my opinion
with these blistering takes
Have you seen how matches and how useless he is? So what is the difference? Maybe not as bad contract but an even more useless rosterplayer

I saw how injured he was. He’s gets one more shot at it. Habs have no reason or need to trade him unless they somehow get a 2C this offseason. And if they do Dach can play wing.

The upside he's shown is still too enticing for me. If he somehow manages to string together good health and can be nearly as good as he looked late in year one and before injury in year two they would look very dumb for giving up on him for a 2nd. Just have to ride this one out and hope I think

Dach is a RW, find a 2C and roll Demidov-2C-Dach next year and let him build his confidence for the 3rd straight season. They should buy out Laine tho, will give them some space

We have plenty of cap space. Dach has a 3.36 million contract. Dach currently worth less than 2nd rounder based on injury history - but has the skillset to be worth much more. We will just hang onto him unless he is part of a package for an upgrade.

Remember how excited Canadiens fans were at the draft when the Habs traded for Kirby Dach, good times…

some of us said to keep the pick and take Nazar with Cooley at 1st OA. The owner imo wanted a quick rebuild so they gambled on Dach, Newhook to speed things up and so far that looks like it's going to backfire on them. We'll see this summer what happens with Dach, as there was a report that the Habs weren't happy with him after a meeting but I don't pay much of any attention to the crappy media so I don't recall the exact details. He's either going to rebound or he won't, we'll have to wait and see what the Habs do.

I'm Not a habs fans and a pens fans
To me a fair trade Dach, MTL 2025 1st round and Mailloux for Malkin and Pens 3rd (conditionnal become a 2nd if Dach play over 60game next year)
With this Montréal gets his NO2 C and get a good guy to guide Demidov and maybe a possibility the pick becomes a 2 round pick around 33 to 37 pick at draft.
Pens gets a Center always injured but with potential as a 2nd C, a young def who needs a new home (no place for him in MTL) Mailloux will be a bottom pair D and as 1st round pick to rebuild
