Five points in the last two games. Moved to a point per game level.
Before Jackson Smith maybe?Mrtka will be an NHLer.
Mrtka will be a 1st-rounder.
and I'm even ready to say he might end up being drafted in the Top-12, maybe even before Jackson Smith.
But I don't see the offensive upside either and I don't think he is the elite skater many see (it doesn't mean he's not mobile for his size). I personally don't like his puck-retrieval game, I don't find him creative, he juggles too much with the puck for my taste, and I would like to see more physically. But that's me. I'm probably wrong, and that's my own opinion, it's fine if we don't all agree.
That being said, even if he lacks offensive upside imho, it does not mean he's never going to play on a first pair at some point in his career either. It also depends on where he ends up on draft day.
Here are all his points in the WHL so far this season :

(Braeden Cootes is so underrated)
Sounds accurate.Mrtka has an Apple.
Also pekar has 2 goals. I think that’s his 10th in the last 11 games?
Where you see him a late round pick?Sounds accurate.
If I had to put a number on it.. he's a scorer.. and probably a 6 out of 10 goal guy
He started the season around 1 goal in 10
Now he's 10 for 10
The kid is not easy to predict. He is Matej Petrov right now!lol
Before the season started I thought top 100 and maybe creeps into round 1 if all goes wellWhere you see him a late round pick?
Mrtka would look good patrolling the Habs Blueline next 15 yearsView attachment 978500
Mynio is gone... So Mrtka has more points than D combined (almost next 3) in about 20 less games played. I won't defend that his points seem to be basic hockey plays and he's not a burner. But he's clearly doing something different than the other Dman on the team.lol
His stock probably slipped a bit with so-so playoffsConcluded a great first year with Seattle in the regular season, winning Rookie and Defensive Player of the year.
NahU-18 will be big for him, if he plays lights out he probably rises into top 7 or 8. Likely still a top 12 player even if he doesn't. One of the younger players in the draft, I watched and at times seems like he struggled to adapt to North American game.
Maybe higher offensive upside than Silayev? He strikes me as Silayev without the skating and the physicality. I'm just not sure what he brings to the NHL except a big body. Risky as a top 10 pick IMO.
Mrtka wasn't getting points in the Czech men's league which is a closer comparison to the level Silayev plays at. A lot of Mrtka's points have been secondary assists and PP assists. I just don't know how much of that translates to the NHL. I don't think he'll be a PP option at the next level.Maybe higher offensive upside than Silayev?
Weird.. seems like a lot of people are saying he sucks lately.lolNumber 5 in final central scouting rankings
