Here's our lineup right now:
Jeremy Morin - Sean Monahan - Jordan Eberle
Blair Jones - Sean Couturier - Jordan Caron
Spencer Abbott - Joe Colborne - Brandon Kozun
Lance Bouma - Zach Sill - Colton Orr/Brian McGrattan
Paul Byron
Chris Butler - Kirs Russel
Jake Gardiner - Robert Bortuzzo
Chad Billins - Christopher Breen
Brandon Manning
Reto Berra
Karri Ramo
We didn't want to rush our young prospects, we want them to develop well at the AHL level. In our rebuild, we wanted to give a chance to some prospects who were dong very well at the AHL level, like Jeremy Morin, Blair Jones, Brandon Kozun, Spencer Abbott, Paul Byron, Christopher Breen, Chad Billins, Brandon Manning, etc.
With a projected lineup, looking something like this:
Johnny Gaudreau - Sean Monahan (C) - Jordan Eberle
Morgan Klimchuk - Sean Couturier - Emile Poirier
Michael Ferland - Joe Colborne - Carter Ashton
Lance Bouma - Mark McNeill - Lane MacDermid (A)
Nicolas Deslauriers, Zach Sill
Stuaert Percy (A) - Jake Gardiner
Trevor Carrick - Ryan Murphy
Keegan Kanzig - Tyler Wotherspoon (A)
Andrew MacWilliam
Jon Gillies
Reto Berra
The 1st line is a dynamic offensive line. Gaudreau, Monahan and Eberle all have elite offensive skills. The line will bring a lot of offense.
The 2nd line is our shutdown line. Couturier will be a selke caliber center, Klimchuk and Poirier are both winger very responsable defensively. This will also be very good offensively, all being very solid offensive players. Couturier bring size to the line and Poirier can bring a lot of physical play.
The 3rd line is a big physical line tough to play against. Ferland is very physical, hits and fights, Colborne is a giant center and Ashton is big, plays physical and works very hard. This line will bring a lot of momentum and energy by their physical play and cycling abilities. A line that will produce some offensive as well and a line that will be responsible defensively.
The 4th line is another tough line to play agianst. Bouma works hard, hits and brings an agitating game, McNeill is big a two-way physical center and MacDermid will be an heavywieght fighter that can play the game as well and works hard. We believe it's important to havean HW in our lineup.
Deslauriers can do it all, a very versatile player. If there's an injury on the top 6, he can fit in, if tehre's an injury on tthe bottom 6, he can fit in. Sill plays a similar style to Bouma, and
The 1st D pairing is composed with Percy, a very intelligent two-way defenseman that plays a mistake free type of game. Gardiner will bring an awesome skill-set to the pairing, and a lot of offense.
The 2nd pairing has Carrick, a big all-around defneseman that can play physical, bring offensive and plays well defensively. Murphy is like Gardiner, and awesome skill set that brings a lot of offense.
The 3rd pairing will be a defensive, physical pairing. Kanzig, a giant with a mean streak, and Wotherspoon, a defensive minded defenseman who's very steady and blocks a lot of shots. Both can move the puck well out of the zone.
MacWilliam at the 7th defenseman brings a simlar game to Wotherspoon.
The goaltenders, well, will stop the puck.
Out team identity will be a though team to play agaisnst, very physical and in your face type of game. Also a very defensively responsable team.
Monahan, Couturier, Poirier, Ferland, Colborne, Ashton, Bouma, McNeill, MacDermid, Deslauriers, Sill, Percy, Gardiner, Carrick, Kanzig, Wotherspoon, MacWilliam all have pretty good size.
Monahan, Couturier, Klimchuk, Poirier, Colborne, Ashton, Bouma, McNeill are all forward who can be very responsable defensively. For defenseman, obviously we want them to develop a solid defensive game.
Poirier, Ferland, Ashton, Bouma, McNeill, MacDermid, Deslauriers, Sill, Carrick, Kanzig, MacWilliam are all guy that can play very physical and drop the gloves. Palying physical and having guys who can drop the gloves is vvery important for our team identity.
While obviously our 1st line will bring elite skill level and scoring, 2nd will produce a lot, and our bottom can chip in offensively. Will have a lot of offense from the back end as well, with a great power play, with Gardiner and Murphy controlling the 1st unit on the point.
With obviously a lot of guys who compete for spots, with a prospects depth chart like this (HF standard):
Johnny Gaudreau - Sean Monahan - Emile Poirier
Morgan Klimchuk - Joe Colborne - Carter Ashton
Michael Ferland - Mark McNeill - Dmitrij Jaskin
Nicolas Deslauriers - Lance Bouma - Brandon Kozun
Lane MacDermid - Mark Jankowski - Scott Sabourin
Jeremy Morin - Corban Knight - Justin Auger
Ben Hanowski - Jordan Weal - Greg Nemisz
Maxim Kitsyn - Sam Carrick - Tim Harrison
Spencer Abbott - Bill Arnold -
Kenny Agostino - Josh Jooris -
Stuart Percy - Ryan Muprhy
Trevor Carrick - Nick Ebert
Tyler Wotherspoon -
Keegan Kanzig -
Andrew MacWilliam -
Shayne Gostisbehere -
Rushan Rafikov -
Brandon Manning -
Viktor Svedberg -
Eric Roy -
Patrick Sieloff -
Chad Billins -
Brett Kulak -
Mark Cundari -
Ryan Culkin -
John Gilmour -
Patrick Koudys -
Jon Gillies
