Question is will he be better and for how long this time ? Montreal has gobs of talent but this one deserves some skepticism . Maybe he comes roaring back .

I think foot speed was a big issue . Now injury could certainly be part of that , I’m not super familiar w his circumstance.
Not all high picks teach the ceiling that was expected when selected. Habs covered the Reinbacher pick with Hutson. Hawks covered the Cam Barker miss with Keith. When rebuilding there will be guys drafted high who don’t work out. But getting guys with later picks who turn into key players makes up for those high pick mistakes.

The guy was drafted less then two year ago, was injure for half a year. Looks like people want so bad for him to be a bust.

I like is play last year even if he had a difficult. He have the ability to close gap with the forward in a fraction of second. He will not be a offensive weapon but I still think he will be a great D.

I'm glad he come back tonight.

Of all of the Habs recent draft picks, Reinbacher is the one that I really want to hit the most. With all of the utter BS that gets thrown his way, whether it be from the “We should have picked Mickov” crowd to the “He’s way too soft” crowd, I really really want him to develop into the number one RD he was drafted for. Just to see posters eating crow would be so so sweet and to crawl under the rocks they came from would make me so happy. Good luck David, I wish you good health

Just how confident are you though? I look at Simashev drafted with next pick or the 2 Swedes Wilander and Pellika who did great at he Worlds and who have 2 years of SHL, KHL or NCAA instead of the Swiss league and about 10 AHL games.

Injuries are bad luck but sometimes you cant overcome the situation like Nolan Patrick, a wasted 2nd OA pick.

What are you talking about? Reinbacher has a Swiss League and two National League seasons under his belt. He's playing pro hockey since 2021. Despite the injury, of the ones you listed, Simashev is the only one with similar pro experience but he scored a whopping 17 points in 148 games and it's not like his scoring is trending upwards. If he can't make plays at pro level then you gotta wonder about his upside at NHL level. NCAA may be nice but it's not the same as pro hockey.

I only looked in on the end of the game and didn't see him (the last 90 seconds, Laval was pressing to tie and so had mostly forwards on the ice, 'tis not a shot at him) so I was wondering how he looked in his return?

not so hot, will likely need some time to shake the rust off, there's a lot of his shifts,
