With Winnipeg jumping out to an early lead against Saskatoon, anyone have any intel on how he has looked this year?
I've watched almost every Ice game since the end of November. He's been very solid - I think he should be a very good pro, a 2-way 2nd pair guy who might make a great partner for a top-pairing "#1" type. He was a big missing when he went off to the WJC's and does a very good job of sealing the wall on rushing forwards, and moving the puck quickly to safety.

Where do we think Lambos is at now? Seems like his stock has fallen off quite a bit due to lack of significant progression.
Still progressing but he has significant work still to go on the defensive side. He is still a year or two out from getting a look IMO and does need to improve his play to have a chance, but he did make some pretty significant progression from last season to this one by eye test so there is hope.
Athleticism and tools are NHL quality. Has decent offensive instincts. Defense isn't bad, either, but tends to make bad reads. Whether he learns from his mistakes over the next year or two will determine whether he will be a middle, or bottom pairing NHL D in the future.
I guess there is a small chance that he never is a NHL'er, but if he stays healthy and trains well i think he will get at least some NHL TOI.

I've watched quite a few Iowa games this year. Lambos has been moved to the third pairing - while his skating is fantastic and his main asset, he doesn't process the game well. Routine breakouts can become a huge turnover that ends up in the back of the net. In fact, he was scratched recently after making two terrible plays that directly led to goals. He can be a bit spazzy out there, too, when he is pressured.
I have not seen him learn this year - in other words, watching him this last weekend he looked similar to what he did in October. There is the fact that Iowa is terrible and there hasn't been a lot of positive there, but I would say that I've noticed other players improve throughout the year, where as Lambos has looked the same.
I don't see a long future in the NHL for him due to his lack of hockey IQ. Hope I am wrong.

It’s interesting, his stock has fallen while another dmen (Mailloux) drafted a few picks after him has steadily risen the entire season. I was always concerned with his play in Liiga but I believe he can be a steady 5-6 in the NHL.

Was supposed to be a top 5 pick in 2021 when everyone was talking about their 2021 Mock during the pandemic, but poor season in Finland/Dub and significant stagnation has led to no offensive upside. Quite an interesting case.

Is Lambos another in a long list of guys who physically matured at a young age and had that advantage over his peers so didn’t need to develop his full game? Then when against men he stalls out? Not much runway of development left?

It's possible. He's a Canadian January birthday, thus oldest in his grade and oldest in the hockey birthyear to dominate when younger.
Lambos was drafted 26th oa. Not sure what people are expecting from that position in the draft in a D+3 year? He has the size, strength, skating. Also some puck skills. He is inconsistent, which is normal for a young player playing his first year in the AHL.
His decision making seems to be a weakness. It remains to be seen whether or not he learns from his mistakes. If he does, he will be a NHL'er. He has the physical tools to be a middle six Dman.

I see some of these early to physically develop guys like the big soccer boy who only learns to kick the ball ahead and chase after it simply because that’s all he needs to do. Lambos just might have been a man amongst boys by age 15/16. Shane Wright has that too.

In 2020, many people expected him to be a top 5-10 pick, in the same range as Guenther, Johnson, Clarke, Sillinger. His production never grew offensively, seems like his overall game did not grow at all.
His overall game has definitely grown significantly since the draft. I saw this player as a project guy, especially after his post draft, but he has taken decent steps forward from season to season via eye test. If he continues his trajectory, I would expect we see him battling for call up position next season but more focused on 25-26 when he should really be ready if he is going to be.
